I'm so sorry. It may or may not be something you'd enjoy, given you're probably not used to traditional Mexican food, but if you're ever in my area, I would be happy to introduce you to traditional Mexican food (which, TBH, is kind of hard to find where I'm at - it's mostly "Tex Mex", which is good in its own way).
South side Chicago is where its at, best tacos outside Socal and a tamale lady on every other corner. I went from working down there to Naperville the last two weeks and my tamale stocks are critically low.

His Divine Shadow posted:

Well if you can't get any tamales maybe I can interest you in some lutefisk, or maybe one of these 50 varietes of pickled herring?
My dad would probably take you up on that pickled herring, it must be an acquired taste.

Merry Christmas you lot.

MCM Christmas special; building a Daihatsu race car for a 24 hour endurance race in Malaysia.

Edit: now that I've finished this and having a break from gorging, can I just say it's peak MCM. Nuggets, DIY, good mates, positive vibes and no fakery. These guys really are the best. And that they pull off what they pull off in such a short time and make it look so polished is nothing short of amazing. Shouts to Issac too, incredibly smart, measured thinking under pressure.

Some of the bespoke/restaurant stuff can actually be hella delicious but for outsiders you probably need to make peace with the fact that you’re eating fish that was never cooked or heated.

Ramen with a side of Karaage is the better Japanese cuisine anyways :colbert: Potato fried chicken and delicious ramen beats sushi any day.

Hey UK bros and broettes - (specifically England) - what's a recommendation to send a Boxing Day bottle of Champagne to my wife's family in rural Lancashire? I'm fine paying Doordash or the equivalent services, I just don't know what the best option is.

^ specifically ON boxing day? Probably Deliveroo tbh. Bang their postcode in and they'll tell you if they're working in the area and what they can get hold of.

Outside of that (and with a wait) you're probably best off trying a supermarket, Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Waitrose but there'd be a delay on delivery because it's just a regular-rear end shop delivery.

Bit of a tradition of going out for a nice dinner with friends, although it won't be a midnight evening with them as my mom is with us for the holidays so we won't abandon her all night.

50/50 we'll make it to 24 still awake.
