I swear there've been more boy group debuts this year than the previous several years combined, and I've liked them more often than not. Pleasantly surprised by this whole album.

Dreamcatcher's take on Nine Inch Nails and NuMetal. Normally hate that sound but I think this circles around to working for me on first listen. Choreo looks sick. Video is wild as hell. Bass line is really fun.

EDIT: Rest of the EP is really interesting too. Classic DC rock song, euro rave banger, and another out there wild track.

I have a whole lot to say about this comeback. I'm not sure if the song, for me, stands on it's own but the entire marketing around it, the video, and some bits of the lyrics is pointing towards taking the piss on vapid "girl crush" flex songs. I reflexively rolled my eyes because I usually hate that poo poo but there's something mocking about it that is real interesting. Apparently from the marketing ARG that went on, "chasing the crown" is an illusion, and leads to madness and apparently death, as we see in flashes in the video. They said in an interview that this group of comebacks is about temptations, and this looks like it's the temptation of selling out?

I might be thinking too hard about the whole thing but the people who are like "pfft DC went mainstream" aren't reading into it enough.

I will say if they win a bunch of awards for a song that's apparently making GBS threads on the very thing that wins lot of awards it'll make me laugh a whole lot.

Rising is definitely my favorite off the album but I knew it was going to be since it's their most traditional song. Shatter is also loving wild too. Unlike a lot of people I don't mind them screwing around with their title tracks and trying new poo poo - f(x) was also one of my favorite groups and they were famous for trying new poo poo.

Eh, it’s the closest touchstone for industrial rock with a tinge of numetal. I can’t help that Trent Reznor is the Boss Baby of that genre.

I was tentatively positive on it this morning, but after blasting it in the car I’m sold. Production is killer, song hits hard.

They just announced a world tour as well. Judging by the response they got at KCON and Head in the Clouds, they're pretty popular already so it should pay off.

As someone that's generally liked all of Blackpink's releases, I thought without Teddy on the credits we'd actually get something different for BM. Welp. They really need to throw out the entire creative team and start fresh.

Feel like that group is going to have a better future if company stans just let it flop and demand something different, there's enough talent there to make any song work but YG clearly need to be forced into trying something new. Blackpink but with a younger average age than what BP had at debut isn't appealing at all.

NMIXX dropping another surprise release next week. If Run for Roses is on this EP it better be the title, that song is incredible. Also expecting the studio versions of the extended O.O songs to be here, we already heard a new recording of the original without Jinni's voice so I assume they did it then

My understanding is that the category is shittly named. It really should be called best “dance” song and is subject to the same criteria as songs of 40% judges score and 60% streaming and sales numbers.
