If you think that, along the way, you're not going to fail... you're blind.

There's no one I've ever met, no matter how successful they are, who hasn't said they had their failures along the way.

Are you trying to imply that when Canada reaches its Trump cycle we are going to elect a Don Cherry led Conservative Party?

No, the "X factor" with Trump that drove him to actually run was the fact that Barack Obama made his penis feel tiny and inadequate by presidenting while black, and then making fun of Donald Trump. Further, and thank god for this, we don't have a primary system, which it seems is responsible for all the political ills of America, including Berniebros, the Tea Party, Donald Trump, an a lunatic child molester almost becoming senator in Alabama.

When you have a company that's entirely operated by directors, and you still have some douche calling himself a chief officer of loving anything, that's a really giant, flashing danger sign.

I'm sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am.

It's a legit great aircraft and there IS a market, except the market is also serviced by offerings by Airbus and Boeing (albeit the 737MAX is pretty old)

They made two mistakes
1) assuming they could overcome Toronto NIMBYism
2) not following the boeing/Airbus model and bribing the gently caress out of everyone.

Hey guys, I know we lied and misrepresented our expansion plans multiple times, but it's cool, we had to. For some reason you guys want to use your waterfront for something other than an airport, turns out that's not really compatible with trying to land jets on a tiny island.

So yeah, it's a shame their biggest customer was a lying huckster who thought he could just do whatever and bribe his way out of trouble when people caught on.

Oh, for sure. He's a classic idea guy and obsessed with the idea of "disruptive" internet stuff, like Bitcoin and Snapchat. It's pure cargo culting, just some wealthy kid who sees these startups devouring the market out of nowhere and deciding his brilliant idea must be the coming thing. So he designs a logo, registers a website, gets himself some business cards as the CEO of a non-existent firm and seeks out angel investors who see he has nothing but an idea and never give him a chance.

He's a decent guy, but he's also loving stupid and privileged. Must be nice to not have to succeed to keep living.

This question probably needs a dreylad and non-dreylad section but:

Does anyone have any recommendations for good Canadian history reading? I've been fighting with this book Word Crimes which is about the development of blasphemy in the UK in the 19th Century. The topic is interesting, but I'd probably be much more interested in reading about something similar about Canada. Same for having read Born to Lose recently — it's a fantastic book, and I'd love to find something of similar quality and insight about Canadian history.
