i dont think anyone should be super confident heading into tommorows mtp vote, but I think that it's more likely to fail than not fail (and not just because of mccain not showing up) there seems to be no real indication that they have the votes and the complete chaos of what on earth they're voting for says to me they can't settle on anything that gets them enough votes, and i cant see it being a compelling story to the waverers that they should walk the plank and that it won't get sawed off behind them

You know I had a sinking feeling of dread that we'd end up with something like GOP attempts to get McCain out of the hospital, but I never thought I'd see anything as stupid as what Cornyn just proposed. Jesus loving wept.

Cormyn just popping up beside McCain's hospital bed saying "Would you, could you, in a plane? Get past the pain that's in your brain? Would you, could you, in an RV? Would you, could you vote for me?" while McCain begs to be left in peace.

It would be super stressful, and everyone would probably need to ignore Covok for their own sanity (I only see replies to him anymore), but the timeline that would be most damaging to the GOP would be the one where MTP succeeds tomorrow, and then they burn a week and a half flailing around, trying and repeatedly failing to find a bill that can get to 50.

So it could mean the cancer (they did an MRI before hand and found it then) or it might have just meant the clot. Wording is not great in the story

Imagine how McCain's grandchildren will remember him. "Grandpa was diagnosed with a particularly aggressive type of brain cancer, but he still got in an RV and suffered through a 35-hour drive across the country so that he could vote to have healthcare taken away from millions of people. He died shortly after casting his vote. He was truly a great man!"
