my favorite part about bitcoin is that there's probably hundreds of thousands of bitcoins that were stored solely on flash drives, thrown out or lost in moves in 2011, that are now in landfills.

MizPiz posted:Is there a server or something someone can gently caress with that would ruin the bitcoin market? you're going about it all wrong, here's how it's supposed to work: step one: start an exchange step two: let a couple of trades go on, collect brokerage fees step three: repeat step two until you've built up enough goodwill with the bitcoiners and people deposit the total amount you're aiming for. step four: get "hacked," send a panicked apology letter and wish everyone well in the future. step five: ??? step six: profit

you rob one person, they call you a thief. you rob everybody they call you a bank.

Alternatively, you can just open up a "legitimate ponzi," openly stating that at some point you are going to rob everyone, and then rob everyone as soon as enough marks have bought in. This is a literal part of the bitcoin "economy" and I have not exaggerated a single word of the preceding sentence.

the fact that rich people are pissing away zillions of dollars on ephemeral bitcoin bullshit just to cover the 0.00001% chance it will become the next facebook is imo the strongest argument for massive confiscatory taxes since the rich cant manage their money responsibly

Bitcoins can't be divided. Once you 3D print your bitcoins, about the size of a large plate, you can only spend them at authorized anime vending machines.
