Does anyone know if there will be a new game after SDVX: Exceed Gear? I would love if the interface was 4k  it's the only downside of my homemade cabinet, it maxes out at 120fps/1080p like the Valkyrie cabinet. That means they would have to intro a new 4K resolution cabinet and I guess I'm not holding my breath... but if anyone knows anything I would be curious.

I’m hoping for a new version soon since they killed Nemsys cabs (and SD DDR cabs), but the Valkyrie model is still pretty new so even if there’s a new version I’d bet we’re probably still at least 5 years away from a new cab with 4k, if not more.

Sigh, that sucks Oh btw I haven't posted my SDVX setup in a minute. It's done now, there's nothing to improve. There's a dedicated subwoofer and 2 stereo speakers (JBL 530s) with a 4k receiver tying it all together, so it sounds fantastic and gets the 120 fps Valk mode. This is why I really want a 4K mode, it would let me put the controller desk much closer to the monitor which would save space in the room. oh well.

Frankly I doubt whether we'll ever see 4K bemani cabs; 1080p panels are still in full production, and the performance boost needed to power the games at 4k vs the minimal graphical improvement you'd get (Especially for a low detail rhythm game where panel speed is far more important than resolution) is probably not worth the added costs.

100% agree on the cabinet panels, especially because Valk was already launched as a top-tier technical rollout (despite not being) though it does have the really awesome second 1080p screen. The 4K resolution being harder to drive though? Eh. I would kind of doubt it unless the code is really hosed, which I have to concede, is often. But there's not much to render here and even cheap internals should in theory be fine. Anyways that's just a long way of saying "yeah"

these games do not require 4k at all and is a ridiculous kinda request youd benefit more from higher refresh rates 100% of the time, which are generally tied to lower resolutions, objectively (and i mean objectively)

SDVX Konasute will run at 4K if you want it to. Now, is it actually running at 4K or is it just upscaling 1080p, I don't know, I can't do a live side-by-side comparison. People who seem like they would know, expect a release of SDVX 7 this year. There was a lot of speculation that it would be announced back at KAC but obviously that didn't happen. This is just my personal speculation, but, with putting SDVX Nemsys and DDR black/red cabs EOL, my guess is that you get new cabinets whenever the next versions of those games are out (although the SDVX one probably wouldn't be 'new,' just mostly equivalent to Valkyrie models).

I like the IIDX DJ style character design and stuff on its own merits in a vacuum and all but for DDR I like characters where you can clearly see their origins as Playstation chunky rear end polygon style :(

What are you even talking about dude apologies for being weeks late but not w this text: these games dont need 4k and youre fooling yourself if you think you do granted it may be a future thing, but thats unnecessary for playing the game at all. it is something You want, as a checkmark the upgrade from ntsc 240 to 1080p was bigger than anyone will ever realize due to view distance being larger than most peoples setups yall dont need 4k bemani (or really any game) except as a tech spec bullshit thing

this is not to say the game shouldnt scale or not work when scaled up, but usually youre gonna do better at the games native res that a lot of effort went into optimizing, and doesnt deal with algorithmic upscaling

Okay this update is legitimately looking huge https://p.eagate.573.jp/game/ddr/ddrworld/teaser/info/info01.html -Song filtering options on the keypad (from screenshots it looks like largely the same set of options, but at least putting it on the keypad is nice) -.05 speed mod increments, the game also calculates the resulting BPMs and displays them - would be nice if you could set preferred BPM, but this at least eliminates the need to pull out the phone calculator -Shock arrows/speed changes/pauses indicated on song select -One of the screenshots tossed in translate seems to show that note skins will also go on hold arrows now -Looks like there's a back button on the difficulty selection after you've chosen a song - no more suffering if you accidentally hit the select button! -Flare gauge is usable for everything - sort of meh on this one, nice if you're into it I suppose Not so great: -It looks like you can only realistically see about 6 songs at a time now for picking songs, hopefully the UI scrolls really fast -Ridiculously huge combo/judgement counter holefoods fucked around with this message at 16:57 on May 16, 2024 |

The most interesting part I think is the combination of mods that was used in Hou. In tab 1 you select the speed mod, but in tab 2 you have the option to enable that "sudden+" kind of feature and also configure the display time on screen (essentially IIDX green number). If it works the way that it seems like it does from the screenshots, it would be the best feature that DDR has introduced in many years (and also funny that they introduce such a complex feature and still can't bring themselves to put in lane speed/mmod). I'd really like to see a side-by-side demonstration where P1 and P2 have different values configured on a song with multiple different BPMs (e.g. Avenger) to confirm this before I get my hopes up, though.

I wouldn't mind dropping two credits on galaxy occasionally, but 3 is just too much. I never have and never will.
