I wonder if Bioware got inspiration from this game when developing their paragon/renegade system. Also its ending is another example of why you shouldn't have a cliffhanger unless you're dead certain (and not just deluded) you'll get to make a sequel.

If you make a wrong move with the bad guys, they kill you. Fair enough. If you make a wrong move with the good guys, they also kill you. What? Green dildo aliens need help, and you are the only one that can help them, but if you show the slightest bit of reluctance they'll murder you in a heartbeat and then wait for extinction. Okay, now kill me with the sacred machete. I can't kill you, we're friends! That's a shame. Die, bitch.

If you watch the credits somebody was actually cited as doing specifically the blood and gore art for the game. As in somebody attached their name to the mspaint blood/skull graphics they overlayed over the fmvs. Like somebody is probably using that on their resume to this very day

Eh, that's making the rather big presumption that the person is still working in the industry/alive today.

Maybe Riana Rouge is daring us to believe in a world where a woman can die a violent brutal death without it coming off as a sex thing? Seriously? I mean that's probably the best way to do a murder mystery game, but if the thrust of the gameplay is tedious and mindnumbing puzzles, I'm afraid the replay value still doesn't exist. I'm super curious to see more of this game, as soon as possible, because I really want to know how they pulled this off, and also, because Christopher Walken is hilarious, and also, because RIP Ossie Davis. (Because he's dead, and it's sad, but also the game is called RIPPER.)

Ripper randomizes the killer and will shower you with enough clues to frame each suspect every time. They couldn't really just throw away those precious FMVs to form alternate paths.

To be honest, i wouldn't mind if there were more games that still used FMV as cutscenes like Wing Commander 3-5, Command and Conquer. Or Headhunter on the Dreamcast. (Though there it was afair only the newscasters). But yeah, it doesn't really work if it's a large part of the game.
