Not everyone can justify spending the money for a new console just for one amazing fighting game, D4, and whatever the hell Scalebound is. To be honest I probably wouldn't buy a PS4 either. I'm lucky I have one I can borrow to play bloodborne.

Yup, I'm not even into fighting games but I can't get enough of that soundtrack. The guy who does the new KI music (Mick Gordon) also did the excellent Wolfenstein: The New Order soundtrack.

I'm getting pretty annoyed at people making GBS threads on it but giving no valid reasons. So many people that I've seen dump on have never actually played it, just cuz it's on a system they don't like for whatever reason.

Couldn't give a gently caress about the system; I play on PC most of the time, I don't have a PS4 or Xbone (played the game with friends for a combined 20 hours?) because I'm a broke rear end in a top hat. I think it looks awful (too many sparks flying everywhere, the characters look extreme-90s, it's muddy and hard to see, IMHO it's the ugliest fighter since SFxT), the overall movespeed is slow (which is a problem SF4 also has, but that's a problem there too), getting to play RPS after you land a hit is dumb because you already outguessed your opponent and therefore should be rewarded (bursts aren't the same thing, they're limited, guaranteed and baitable), it suffers from Blazblue-itis (ironic) in that most characters HAVE to have a big gimmick. Those are my issues with the game.

Full disclosure, in case you wanna call me out for something, games I've played for longer than that: Melty Blood, SF4, MK9, Marvel 3 (meh), Marvel 1, Alpha 2. I guess Tekken 3 too.

Skullgirls is cool, I'm sad the Brazilian community died before it was even a thing and the few remaining souls kept up with the game during the patch-o-rama. I tried getting back into it a while ago and everything I used to know about the game was barely valid anymore plus they had these "fukua" things and

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't KI following the same model as League of Legends, where it's "free", but really the "free game" is more like "free really robust demo"? It's weird people would be upset over that, given no one complains about LoL's pricing. As far as I know anyway; I don't follow MOBA games, so I'm no authority or anything.

And KI loving rules, as a guy that doesn't own an XBone, the hype is still palpable. I wish it was on PC so I could play it, but until then, I've just gotta appreciate from afar.

As someone who has played KI, I can agree with basically everything that Dias said about the thing game. I am an idiot who buys literally every fighting game and bought the season passes for KI. I like playing all of two characters and I don't even know if I like playing Omen, so much as I think he's one of the few interesting characters playstyle wise. It's basically him and Combo, then every character is a mess of like bad gimmicks, slow movement, and the game's own dumb mechanics. This may be a petty statement too, but whoever is responsible for me needing a $200 stick to play the game on the stick can gently caress right off. I never will like using the Xbox controller for fighting games and me not being able to use my 360 stick is dumb.

Good music though.

It's a new Marvel-like game with an easy-to-grasp combo system, a pretty diverse cast in terms of gameplay (one of the few games of its kind where zoning and grapplers are as effective as high-low airdash characters), no X-Factor bullshit and a ton of QoL improvements over other FGs. It has its issues - overly-long combos used to be a big one, now it's holy poo poo everything is a reset - and the frequency of patches is a two-edged sword, but as a fighting game it's pretty solid.

This is the general opinion of the Xbox One in Games, so if you were thinking about posting in that subforum, don't. Sure it's technically inferior to a PS4 or PC, but graphics aren't everything. What matters most to any platform is games, and Xbox has plenty of them, KI included.

I don't think any of that matters so much as the horrible, terrible always online and Kinect based initial launch. Sure they've been working on making amends and removing that but first impressions count. That E3 event was a disaster.
It also doesn't help that out of most consoles, XBox is the one that relies most on brand loyalty really.

Right, and it was a terrible launch thanks to Don Mattrick and other idiots in upper management, but since Phil Spencer has been handed the reins, I think he's been doing a respectable job trying to turn the entire thing around. I don't think it's fair to bash the console and its company because of how they were represented almost two years ago. Nobody is continuing to bash Sony or the PS3 because of their whole "599 US Dollars" 2006 conference, and it would be ridiculous if people still were in 2015, but Sony gets away with whatever because they are Sony, not Microsoft. The Wii U's reveal in 2012 was just as laughable too, but in the long run they got away with it because they're Nintendo, not Microsoft.

It's a bit frustrating not being able to talk positively about a console I happen to enjoy games on in a Games forum just because of the company that made it, especially one that's been out for 16 months now, has proven it's not going anywhere, and is just going to get better. Microsoft is far from a perfect company, but a bunch of people online act like they're the only company that makes mistakes all the time. It's like the M$ LOL mindset from the 90s never really went away.

And no, I'm not a console warrior: I've played just about every platform that exists since the late 80s, had all three last-gen consoles, have a Wii U, plan on getting a PS4 by the end of the year, want a 3DS and Vita eventually, and have been playing PC games since a time when downloading porn on jpg files and swapping them with friends on floppy disks flet like getting away with murder.

Don't get it twisted who your enemies are.
Really this latest generation not actually improving much in the way of performance for most games is what prompted me to finally nut up and build a PC. The last 3 years of the previous gen (as in 2010-2013) had almost every game come with the caveat of "the PC version's better" and that seemed to continue with the Xbone and PS4 so I just said gently caress 'em both. I was in dire need of a new computer anyway so it was basically killing 2 or 3 birds with one stone for me.

PC gaming is cheaper anyway.

"Oh, but upgrades!", I hear you say. Dude, I built a PC with 2008 mid-range parts in 2010 (think in dollars I'd have spent less than $500) and it ran most new releases with decent levels of graphical performance up to 2012. That would be four years, and I could still play most new releases until 2014 anyway dropping down to low settings. This year I got myself a R7 250X and four more gigs of RAM. Kept everything else the same (AMD Athlon X2, bunch of old poo poo). Still haven't found something I can't play on High. Maybe new-gen will gently caress me up, but even then it's been six years I've had this machine.

Add to that the amount of cash I saved on Steam deals and yeah, it's cheaper. Doubly so if you don't care about ultra-high settings. I would say couch multiplayer is the one big loss, but if Steam streaming is as good as it looks...

Yeah, but here's the thing. After that conference if that sours you on an Xbone then you're probably not going to keep looking up info on that console. If you happen to see a PS3 while you're out and about shopping for like four hundred dollars that does a better job at changing your mind than needing an internet connection always to play single player videogames. Nintendo and Sony have been getting away with this stuff because they're a lot less fun to make fun of. Buying Mojang [Minecraft company] for 2.5 billion dollars, their marketing to Japan looking like a mushroom cloud now those are funny.

There's an actual thread that's not about making fun of the Xbone in Games too though. You may not have seen it though since it might've been about seven pages in. Also, this is a web forum. People hyperbolize and make things out to be way worse than they are on the internet [and real life].

Really, this has been a kinda mild new console generation. I'm wondering when things'll really start to pick up and get rolling and the games start looking really good like Wonderful 101 did. More of that and less Order 1886.
