I'm not a huge fan of peggy but he had the instrumentals for Black Ben Carson as its own album on Spotify and I listened to it over and over. I absolutely love his production, but his lyrics are pretty meh from what I've heard (Black Ben Carson/Veteran).

I think this is a great example. His whole aesthetic is great but his lyrics are pretty rough. Maybe I'm wrong though since it's been a while since I've listened to him.

Checking out Scaring The Hoes now.

the bass is so deep and clean that even on my very mid system it feels like the room gets swallowed up with bass.

interesting to watch drill try and evolve and stay relevant. for every 10 misses there's a hit.

ok mad switch up but youtube just recommended me an mfdoom + sade sadevillain mash up and i'm two tracks in and it's crazy. doom's vocals sounded real jarring in the first song but sade was beautiful on an extremely beautiful beat. the second track tho my criticism no longer applies. it's loving crazy. 21 minutes of your life to hear something real interesting.

RTJ is doing this later this year:

quote:

“It’s mind blowing to us that it’s been 10 years since we joined forces as RTJ. The best way we can think to celebrate is to get the whole family together and do what we love for the people who love us back. It’s going to be amazing, just like this entire ride has been, and we are grateful to get a chance to celebrate with our jewel runners this year and finally get back into clubs to destroy some stages for you.

We’re doing 4 cities, 4 nights each, and 4 full albums worth of jams, many we have only performed a small handful of times during our whole existence. So on night one it's RTJ1 in full plus many more songs from the other records, night two it's RTJ2... etc. etc. We can’t wait to get out there and see you.“ - Jaime and Mike

I grabbed tickets to RTJ2. GA is only $50 which seems wonderful nowadays. Presale is happening now, RTJX is the code if anyone needs it.

They also said "With special guests and surprises at every show." so depending on who they get to show up, that could be a killer 4 day run.

Like in 2015 when they had Zack de la Rocha, Boots, and Gangsta Boo (RIP) all with them for the show. But now stretching over 4 albums there are some cool possibilities.

I know we’ve talked about Tyler at length over the last 13ish years, but it really does blow my mind at how effortlessly he’s evolved throughout his career. Just singularly focused, and now he’s huge! I can’t think of anyone else in the last however long that’s done what he’s done.

Some rappers lasted awhile, some changed up a little bit. A lot more just stick with what works and that’s it. Look at Gucci, or Lil B. They can be fun still but there’s nothing new. Within a couple years, I suspect Neph and Pap will lose their luster unless they shift up a bit more.

It’s pretty neat to have been listening since the relative start and see where it’s at now.

He’s also one of the last albums-focused rap artists. Absolute anomaly. Happy for him.

Killer Mike's politics are complicated. He was cool when he was hyping up Bernie, less cool when he was hyping up Ben Carson and the NRA. There's a lot worse out there ATM though so I feel a little petty... Tho the Wavves guy completely killed their music for me when he became a landlord and had such a bad defense that stood so opposite to the style of music they make. He could a just said "it sucks I'm just playing the game they woulda became $4k/month beachfront aprtmnts anyway" but instead whined about how come he doesn't deserve passive income why is everyone mean

Sorry for boring poo poo in other news I continued to like scaring the hoes more after finally listening to it on not earbuds
