personally I think the person who writes the review should decide the score but I guess that’s why I don’t write for a big brain publication like pitchfork the witnessing the stillborn birth of a child while simultaneously having the opportunity to see her play in the afterlife on imax website

To the sun's savage brightness he exposed the dark and secret surface of his retinas, so that by burning the memory of vengeance might be preserved, and never perish.
My main problem with a lot of music criticism now is that it’s veered toward academic and the writing has become pretty lifeless as a result. There were some bad takes in the old days but at least it was fun to read.

A lot of rap writing suffers from this (Goop on ya grinch, etc), and it’s painful to read. Stereogum is a confused and sometimes corny website, but I think Tom Breihan is a fun writer to read. His column on the XXL Freshman is worth a read.

Annoyed this is a deluxe edition and not just a B-Sides thing. So now I’ll have to buy the 6 tracks individually… annoying!

And the mercy seat is awaiting,
And I think my head is burning,
And in a way I'm yearning,
To be done with all this measuring of proof.
An eye for an eye
And a tooth for a tooth,
And anyway I told the truth,
And I'm not afraid to die.

That Juicy J mixtape was actually kind of a mix of emotions. Lots of stuff about mental illness coupled with self-improvement. He's clearly going through or been some through poo poo. It's not unusual for rappers to talk about it, but a lot of times they go with the usual drink, pop pills, smoke weed, etc. lane for coping. Juicy J advocates getting help, talking to people, etc as well as working on yourself.
