A model with Fireteam: Haris can form a link of up to 3 models of the same type. The link is in addition to any link provided by the sectorial.

Normally sectorial armies can have a single link team made up of up to 5 of the same "linkable" troop type. Haris is an ability that allows it's troop to form a second link team of up to 3 of the same troop type. Until last week, it had only shown up in Qapu Qhalki. Specifically, on Odalisques and Sekban. Rumors say that most or possibly all sectorials will be getting some access to Haris with the N3 revision of Human Sphere & Paradiso, and last week we saw it pop up in the new USAriadna.

Crushed him the first two games - another player who hasn't touched the game since N2 and forgot the game! However the third game he got back into the flow of things and figured out deployment. We also switched from a dense urban block fight to a more open park/parking lot feel.
-The more open maps certainly make things harder on Adrian's camo and big guns schtick.
- Lost my Chasseurs to bad placement. LFT or bust!
- Need to find a replacement heavy hitter in the Metro link for the Loup-Garou. The viral rifle is nice but doesn't have enough range in open maps.
- The Sapper-sniper Zouave is rad, but will lose out to a TO Camo sniper on the reactive turn pretty consistently. Needs alternate placement strategy if going second.

I'm proxying heavily, but I want to hold out till I can afford the Americans megabox. Do we know when the pre-order will end?

They were made by Deflater Mouse from CB's forum, he has or had a thread for all his terrain there. I don't know if it's still updated, but that's where I'd check for more information.

The Russians don't currently have a sectorial, so if you play Russians you will play Vanilla Ariadna, so you can take American/French/Scottish models in your list. No reason not to cherry pick from the entire faction.

That being said, the Russian stuff is generally pretty darn good. You will naturally take a fair amount of Russian stuff in the vanilla lists.

The Russians are due for a sectorial, but when that happens a lot of their models will likely get resculpts. Especially the Line Kazaks. Although they've got some new stuff now like Dog Warriors, Spetsnaz, and the Tankhunter HMG that all look really good.

Personally, if it was me, I would aim to pick up the new Russian models as they trickle out and round things out with the other new stuff like the Americans.

As I'd hate to paint one of these:

And see this come out not soon after:

Of course, YMMV.

It also isn't like you don't have some decent new Russian stuff to keep you occupied for right now:

Icestorm has only introductory rules and scenarios, not full rules. And aother identical starter set won't give you much in terms of usable minis - when your whole army will be like 10-15 dudes, you're better off picking exactly what you want. I'd sell off the second box and buy another box for what you want to run - a sectorial starter, a box of remotes, or the special weapon pack so you can have a full link of the basic troops if you want to run sectorial or just more weapon options.

If you want the buildings and such they are available separately (not trying to make you feel bad for buying it obviously) but there are uses for the duplicate models. If you want to use all of them there is a lot to be said for painting/converting a couple of the alguaciles/fusiliers to be paramedics or any other little upgrade that isn't represented on a model. A lot of the newer infinity figures have real possibilities for arm swaps as well, which can make a lot more unique variations.

A good expansion for each icestorm half/starter set would be the box of fusiliers/alguaciles with 'special' weapons, and/or the sectorial-themed starter sets which also have a good mix of slightly different line infantry or basic medium infantry, and some more specialised models.

Yeah I think we can make something work with it. I dropped 40k to get into this so I've got a ton of bits laying around and this game feels like a massive bargain in comparison.

The eventual plan is to learn the game, bring it up to the LGS and reel in some more players.

Fiddling with a test miniature for Haqqislam to try and find a paint scheme.

Not too sure I'm happy with the green. Tried Thornwood green, with Reikland Fleshwash, then followed the paint chart with mixing in rucksack tan and then menoth white base. Was pretty jarring so I glazed it lightly with thornwood green to tone it down, and then tried argax earthshade to bring out the lines where you couldn't really see edges clearly.

Does someone have a secret Haqq recipe?

Played a 300 point game against the Yu Jing player again. This game is amazing. We did have a few rule snaggles surrounding link teams:

How does spending orders and shooting in a link team work:
- How many models can shoot in the Active turn?
- How many orders are spent for each model's shooting? Is one short order in a link enough to make all the members shoot?
- If so, how many different models can be shot by the link? Only one?

Unless it's a coordinated order or G-Synced models, usually only one model can shoot per activation/order. When you activate a link team, you nominate a link team leader. The leader is the only one that can shoot etc. (but gets a whole bunch of bonuses from his team). The link leader can spread his shots to as many targets as he has line of fire to. So four shots could got to four different targets.

In the defensive turn they all get seperate AROs all with the link team bonuses.

tokenbrownguy
Apr 1, 2010

What if a link team triggers another link team's AROs? Do they get to pick targets individually, or do they fire at a single target?

E: And I guess I don't understand why the link team doesn't get to fire? Shouldn't the shoot short order work on everyone in the link?

Hortism
Oct 25, 2010

Nah, Mostly because that would be a bit too much better than any other option in the game.

Link team vs link team would still be the leader of your link to anyone you designate as a target and the returning fire would be anyone who has line of sight to any of your link team.

The bonuses alone are good enough to use a link team for to be honest. And they are really strong defensively because everyone in the link get those bonuses in the reactive turn.

What you're describing is more of something you'd seem from a coordinated order, where everyone gets to do the action against the same target. So four coordinated models can shoot one target. But there are penalties. Like the spearhead is the only one that gets full(?) burst and everyone else only gets one. And it costs a command token, which are fairly limited.

I guess link teams don't make a lot of 'real world' sense, in that any additional fire power you'd think the rest of the team should represent is only apparent in the bonuses the leader gets.

What you're describing is shooting 5 models simultaneously with a single order, with no penalties and significant benefits - it would literally be the only way to play the game. I don't think anything could stand up to 5 elite MI or 5 HI firing together with Sixth Sense level 2, full burst, +3 BS and +1 Burst.

The advantage of a link is that while you only attack one at a time in the active turn (same as any other model) and you all react according to individual LoF (same as any other models) you receive those sweet sweet bonuses in both circumstances, and you can move all the models in the active turn with one order. That may seem less significant than you thought but it is huge because you are moving to take positions with up to 5 models, so if your maneuver fails or you run out of orders etc, you have 5 models with a terrific defensive bonus to stop the opponent in your reactive turn, as opposed to just having blown your chance.

Basically link teams are already one of the best things in the game. Their only weakness is that grouping makes you vulnerable to templates - I always include a link team in a sectorial list. It just transforms cheerleader models into a powerful, efficient force and boosts powerful models into death squads.

My group has been looking for Infinity-themed vehicles to use as scatter terrain for ages, wit no luck. The futuristic stuff is usually too small, and the models of a good size tend to be those of regular cars. Hard to justify a VW bug in Paradiso.

Has anyone found a good product line of models/toys for that purpose?

-too much poo poo in the first group, it'd be starved with 10 orders and you have 8.
-why 3 hackers, are you planning to do some serious offensive hacking or just specialists? Either way I'd downgrade the Hawwa to a FO to save points.
-LT not too obvious?
-the reaction drone is much much more versatile & useful than the GML, the GML is a gimmick that may pay out and is more likely to fail.
-what are you planning to do during the bike co-order? Dodge? Throw smoke at selves?
