Worried Stellar Blade is gonna dominate conversation cause everything has to be a headwhip hot take machine these days and in the end I’m willing to gamble it’s a trash game that won’t deserve any of the attention it gets. first impressions of Stellar Butts: it's kinda whatever, that attacks have some nice weight to them but it feels kinda stiff and clunky. the dodge is very wimpy and grabs feel impossible to avoid without stopping everything you're doing and sprinting away. there's a mikiri counter-like move for them on the skill tree but it's locked off right now. game cant seem to make up its mind if it wants to be dark souls or ninja gaiden. some of the canned grab animations end with you and the enemy just standing still for a second awkwardly locked in place until the game realizes the animation's over. game has a pretty unpleasant aesthetic. it's one thing to have T&A in your game but when the first 15 minutes of the game is watching dozens of girls in skintight outfits getting violently mutilated it's uh a bit uncomfortable.

Stellar Blade demo's pretty whatever, animations are stiff and feel pretty bad and the setting/aesthetic are just a kind of generic character-action post-apocalypse. Nothing here that hasn't been done better a hundred times already, but at least it'll give the hot take people something to go on about so they can stop airing opinions about Dragon's Dogma 2's fast travel or whatever

Yeah, and I just try to avoid the companies that have those kinds of scandals brought to light even if the lead offenders get removed. I don't really hold it against people who do play them (outside of HL) but I can't even think about playing an Actiblizz game without thinking about all the poo poo that went down behind the scenes, most of all Kerri Moynihan, who committed suicide because she didn't see any other way out from the abuse. My friend got D4 and I tried it through gamesharing but didn't get too far into it because those thoughts wouldn't leave. That's my own hang-up, though.

Stellar Blade demo was OK. No outright sus poo poo so that was a plus. I like the enemy designs. got to the final boss of the demo and downgrading my impression from “whatever” to “it’s poo poo” feels like I’m actively fighting the controls constantly and this wimpy little dodge EVE does can’t get me away from even the tiny lightning bolts the boss drops, it’s genuinely worthless and the timing for a perfect dodge makes no sense to me. the mikiri counter unlocks for the boss but instead of watching the boss’s animation to know when to dodge into it you’re supposed to stare at EVE’s wrist for a second flash in order to hit the counter and it feels really awful Augus fucked around with this message at 19:04 on Mar 29, 2024 |
