I wonder how long that 'supersonic' 747 flight had to wait on the tarmac at Heathrow.

I remember about 4-5 years ago when Skywest essentially stalled a CRJ-200 (the airline insisted it was a "less than optimal airspeed", not a stall) and lost 14,000ft in the recovery, which resulted in the FAA restricting the Skywest -200's to a maximim FL280, and imposing a minimum cruise speed on that airplane as well until the airline got their poo poo together.

Holy poo poo. https://youtu.be/ZP-9mWqFh3c That taxiway looks like a bikepath, let alone a driveway or taxiway. The plane rolls out of the hangar because the surface is inclined. Don't want your brakes to fail going back down the taxiway because it is a 90 degree turn on a slope. Oh yeah, it is a mountain valley with trees beside the runway. Good luck.

Not dog piling on Skywest, I'm at the airline that's the descendant of the one with a somewhat famous Pepsi-involved crash. And we have since had at least one event that's an exact duplicate. Our colossal amount of avoidance is just an ironclad emphasis on monitoring. Good, but not enough it itself. I'd also like to see it paired with a deeper teaching of the drag curve and it's relationship to AOA, but no such luck.

I’ve got a bit over 600 hours in a PC12 and would 100% fly into there, that’s rad as hell.

The autogen is good enough to find the field and the hangar, and the cliff side taxiway. Also, the turboprop is a TBM which... Lacks the PC-12’s short field cred. I went to Locher in the Carbon Cub and it was still pretty sporty...

Never seen (or heard of) Locher Field before, but I decided to make good use of an afternoon off work to download the scenery for it to FSX and take the An-2 (with a ton of pesticides and half a ton of fuel on board!) for a spin: You taxi up the runway in a perfect three-point landing attitude, at medium cruise power with the cowl flaps all the way open. 1000hp, 15-deg of flap and gravity assistance; the An-2 basically does a vertical takeoff! Turn around and try the landing: Over the first set of power cables... Over the second, then basically into a parachute-like free fall to hit the grass. Touchdown!

landed at Locher in 2020. it's alright - the buildings are there but they're very much autogen. the strip is just grass. the most fun part of the approach, the powerlines, aren't modeled

I hope they release that world-editing tool that they showed in the Airports video so that people can make their own edits to the scenery. I extra hope that they also accept user submissions into some kind of approval queue so that the database can be constantly updated. Crowdsourcing seems like the only realistic way to ensure accuracy with a world of this scale and you know that flight sim grognards would be perfectly happy to do it. Also cmon Asobo ffs let me into the alpha. Neither I nor any of my pilot friends with good computers who applied got in and I'm thinking it's because they are looking for comments about how the software runs instead of "magnetic compass behavior in turns is over-damped" and "low level wind shear on short final at my home airport is not correctly modeled" and like I get it but also aaaaaargh come on already
