thatchers is an OK cider, kinda shameful to be drinking it in the south west but it's OK all the same. i like the haze version fine, although it's a little sweet. thatchers gold is drier and good and refreshing on a sunny day. bottled, the katy single variety stuff and vintage are both deece, although i wouldn't drink more than a bottle or two in one session, gets a bit much in short, if you're going for mass market cider you could certainly do worse. and it's from somerset, not herefordshire, so that's a plus

rattler, now. i'm sure it used to be orange and flat, cos I distinctly remember drinking it like that in a pub in saltash, but these days it's fizzy and fairly clear, which makes sense for a brand that's clearly trying to gain more commercial appeal. still gives you the good old cider confusion and headache though. in fact i don't think I'm ready to talk about rattler just yet now if you want a decent session cider, i like happy daze. it's a wee bit sweet for my taste, but it's a proper cider with a proper fermented apple taste. you can easily drink three before you realise that it's not actually apple juice. try that with old rosie or, even more dangerous, old bristolian. hopefully your mates will fish you out of the canal, although if they've been drinking the same stuff i wouldn't count on it big scary monsters fucked around with this message at 13:42 on Aug 8, 2017 |

id like to open the floor now to general discussion about ciders, what Americans call "hard cider". all are welcome, even outside the sacred cider counties of Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Herefordshire. scandinavian "cider" and other similar sweet fruity children's drinks are allowable, but please don't come with garbage like strongbow or magners, you're only embarrassing yourself
