I got one, and you still have to be careful with it or the Homer head box will fall right out of it.

And the thing calling you a baby was written as if it was from Mr Burns. It does mess up the look of the shelf though.

JethroMcB posted:I remember they had an offer to replace that Season 6 Homer head with a regular box, but it was a pain in the rear end (There was a website devoted to it but you couldn't actually order it there, you had to download a form, which had to be printed and filled out by hand, and you also had to include a personal check to cover shipping and include the UPC code from the little flap of paper that was originally stuck to the back of the case.) Also the language of the press release and the website made fun of you, the customer, for being a whiny baby who was wildly upset about your cartoons not being in the right box. I did all this, but didn't get my replacement box because I was dumb enough to forget the money. So my Homer head case still remains and my shelf looks much like twistedmentat's. This was what they started putting in them:

I'm bad at approaching people for autographs too and am often too shy to tell people I enjoy their work even in a setting that welcomes it (like conventions), so I get it. I just wanted to point out Henry isn't the only friendly one. Thanks for attending and getting a poster! That goes out to anyone else reading this who attended.

I believe this episode of Mission Hill is one of the best artworks ever made about being unemployed while striving for a specialist job. It's also a funny & well told story with a satisfying character arc which is too rare nowadays in the US. When you guys eventually get to the series I vote for this (but every episode is great too) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-1tk0o59Qc

I want to believe a Talking Mission Hill miniseries will happen one day, but I fully admit to not helping the cause because I keep voting for either King of the Hill or Futurama.

I would vote for King of the Hill, but I kind of want Futurama to have a bit of time off the bench. It's always going to win, so putting it on a voting list is kind of pointless. Mission Hill is perfect for a limited series because its a self contained dozen episodes or so and there's a ton to talk about in each one. I've talked about this many times, and even got a Thanks! From Bill Oakley when I tweeted it at him, but it was insanely ahead of its time. No one was making cartoons, or any TV really, about nerds and weirdos who hang out in front of their computers all day and get excited about watching Babylon 5, love bad movies, have straight up parodies of Pi and just the weirdness of the late 90s. Like holy poo poo they have an MMORPG in an episode, something that was so far out there that no one but turbo nerds would even think to talk about it, but its a major plot point in an episode. Speaking of that episode, George trying to get that game to work is so true to all of us PC gamers. When he looks at the computer and the error pops up and he says "Moms be using you again" or when he finally gets the loading screen to come up and the disk pops out of the drive, both of those communicate the frustration of not being able to get a game everyone else is enjoying to work. God I love that show. Analytic Engine posted:I believe this episode of Mission Hill is one of the best artworks ever made about being unemployed while striving for a specialist job. That early vacation where you're just hanging out relaxing, doing nothing but doing fun stuff. Maybe you'll look for work tomorrow, today It's 10 more episodes of Murder She Wrote. Then something happens and you're oh poo poo I need a job, and you scramble to find something. I hope with Bobs move to Canada we'll get live shows, but i'm not holding out hope for a Toronto one. Even if we're the center of the universe, Vancouver to Toronto is a long, expensive trip.

I was feeling a lot of Andy's thoughts. Went through a "Well, I'm looking for jobs, but when I'm not doing that, I'll just work on my photography." But after month one, the malaise sets in. I dealt with a lot of Beardleys. kefkafloyd fucked around with this message at 16:52 on Jan 27, 2020 |

I just finished my first viewing of Mission Hill because of how often it gets brought up on this show and I would fully support preceeding the next miniseries vote with a separate poll of "Hey, can we just do Mission Hill" a la the recent Iron Giant cast

But yea, the thing where you have nothing to do so you just kind of sleep away way the day, but then you get your E/UI check and boom, you got a bit of money so you can go off and do something fun. Though I never got so bad i lost a tooth or tried to go out without any pants on but yea.

The bunny scene really is still hilarious to this day. Call Of The Simpsons may have a lot of weird out-of-character moments and stuff like the bear sideplot, but I think it's the most Simpsony episode of Season 1 in terms of humour (the family leaving the RV while Homer gives directions, "I've murdered us all," the spinning headline escalation, etc.).
