Amazon's site is almost always incorrect. Someone posted here recently that often times they just port over the same information that was listed on the DVD specifications.
I go by the Beaver reviews:

In the disc information, this shows it as Region free, although I'm not sure if the US release differs from the UK release? I'd assume not, but if someone has anything different please correct me.

Something from Nothing
Amazon does NOT have correct region code information - they just default things to region B/2 if it's a UK release and region A/1 if it's a US release. Rome is listed as Region Free on blurayregioncodes.com, and in various discussions on the Blu-ray.com forums.

You're probably right. At any rate, I'm glad I made that post because I would have missed out on that deal. When I decided to buy a Blu-ray player the Tron movies were in my top three must have films. I was disappointed to find the blu-rays were price gouged, because apparently that's Disney's trademark.

Two more Universal classics...
All Quiet on the Western Front - Feb. 14
To Kill a Mockingbird - Jan. 31

Both are new digital restorations with DTS 2.0 mono tracks (plus 5.1 on the latter). All Quiet features the complete silent version, featurettes, and a Robert Osborne intro. Mockingbird seems to carry over all the extras from the Legacy Series DVD.

Unless Universal totally screws up the transfers, these should be essential buys. MSRP is $39.98.

If you're a fan of the movie, there is no reason to buy the original blu-ray. The extras are all really fantastic on the extended one. The making ofs are like 3 hours in total with a ton of extra stuff as well.

Mostly the former. You remember the scene of them climbing up the vines to reach the Floating Mountains? Yeah, you get to see that rig in the studio before any CG was added to it. Remember, the whole movie was basically shot, then digital costumes were applied over top of the actors and sets, so there's an entirely different movie in existence, just the actors and shapes of the stuff they interacted with. No textures or colors or anything, just humans with dots on their faces, and maybe ears for the Navi.

Steve Yun posted:

Is the film itself a significant improvement over the theatrical?

My friend, who loved the original (wasn't a fan myself), said the extended version was a big waste of money so I dunno.
I'm generally wary of Cameron's DCs. Great director and filmmaker, not so great editor.

UK Amazon has the Alien Anthology (which seems very well reviewed by pretty much everyone) for £13.97. Hell, I only really liked the second movie and hated the third but I have to buy this purely because how good a deal it is. Check it http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003AQBYUG/ref=nosim/?tag=cheapbluray-21.
