And apparently whoever they are was peddling the Wohl stuff to left leaning journalists weeks ago? Flagrant idiocy and incompetence neatly explains everything else, but that would seem to make it look like this is some kind of poorly conceived double-reverse frame?

The "fashwave" presentation deliberately ignores the trauma the protagonist visits on himself to ignore his conscience, the brutality of the SAG, and the general state of the dystopiac society in favor of "wow that robot suit and MG34 sure are cool!". Of course, the self-harm of people as they try to fit into a fascist society, police brutality, and the lovely conditions of occupied areas is more of an attractive feature rather than a problem or injustice to the sort of people who think "fashwave" is cool. After all, they'll be the cool detached badasses who benefit from and inflict violence rather than the person getting stomped on, right? now that I'm thinking about the idea of "fashwave" as an attempt at creating a subgenre, it's strange how fash never seem to come up with their own aesthetic, instead preferring to co-opt existing styles; e.g. Anime Nazis, "W A R A E S T H E T I C S", etc., yet insist that they are the vital front of culture
