Troops who have the surgery require months of recovery, she added, which means they’re unavailable to do their jobs.

Is this true?

How many trans people are in the military? Out or otherwise?

It's impossible to measure those who aren't out, but of those who are, it's somewhere between 7000 and 15,000.

I remember reading an article (on Cracked, of all places) that FtM transition is a whole lot more involved than MtF, because as the saying goes "it's easier to dig a hole than build a pole." FtM requires a lot of maintenance and upkeep, while MtF seems to be a whole lot easier, since biologically, all embryos are initially female (it's still no picnic). As with all things in nature, it's easier for men. :v:

$130 million per year is a very high estimate, too, and it comes from an unnamed study cited by a rabidly anti-trans congresswoman. There's a RAND Corporation study which says it's only $8.4 million per year.

The RAND survey, again, an actual one commissioned by the interested parties, estimated $8.3 million as the high-end annually. $84 million over ten years - so, you know, more than an order of magnitude less than the republican congresswoman you're quoting.

It wouldn't be for real. If anything, she'd meet with AKIP because they're constituents. The latter could be floated as a :thejoke:.

Alaska seceding isn't plausible because even though the state is mostly empty, there's quite a lot of military materiel up there that can't (and won't) be moved. The same with the "Cascadia" nutjobs. Washington state has more destructive power within its borders than the whole of France.

I think if Alaska gets annexed and we fight to get it back that just becomes an actual facts war with the annexing country.

Which, let's be real, would be Russia. No way they let Canada get all that oil.

But all of this is so far flung it doesn't even matter even more than in an lol nothing matters sense

This isn't quite true, and that author isn't very knowledgeable about phalloplasty or it's results. However, yes, phalloplasty is more expensive and intense healing wise than vaginoplasty.

Trans men do have some difficulty with the medical side of transitioning, but actually adding testosterone does a lot. Both sides of HRT cause changes, inside and out. But testosterone's are more permanent and honestly, noticable. A trans man could (in most situations) do nothing but wear vaguely boys clothes, bind (if needed) and be on testosterone a couple years and be recognized in their gender.

Bottom surgery != transition

Oh we already have plenty of that right now with the PFD being capped at $1100 due to our budget crisis. The Republican senate doesn't want to stop giving tax credit blowjobs to the oil companies even though the market is in the shitter because JOB CREATORS, and they flat out refuse any new taxes to even be considered, so the pfd is the only place to get money from to run this place.

We're not in a great place right now and getting hosed with by trumps administration isn't going to help their cause.

So completely theoretically, how far down the chain at DOJ would Trump have to fire people to get to an Acting AG who isn't Senate-confirmable?

Wondering in the outlandish bizarro-world scenario/thought experiment where he fires Sessions, the Senate refuses to confirm any replacement AG, and so he just keeps firing all the way down until he gets to someone who he wants and doesn't require authorization from the Senate.

If any of this threatens national parks management, tourism or fisheies, it's all gonna get heaped on the Trump admin. The right is just gonna scream for Murkowski's head though.
