Sailor Moon's BFF Naru had a big thing where she fell for Nephrite's alter ego, Nephrite was a very irresponsible twenty-something evil general and started to get feelings back, but it didn't get that far and he got murdered by one of his co-workers for going soft and they had a surprisingly poignant conversation about how yeah he really did want to get a chocolate parfait with her and now he never will before he exploded into magic dust. And then Sailor Moon set her up with Melvin a couple episodes later. I know he had a Japanese name but frankly the dub name suits him so much better, just picture what a guy named Melvin looks like and acts like and you've got it, pretty much the polar opposite of a suave evil prettyboy. They were still going steady three seasons later.

So it's reasonable that characters from there will have stone names, which often end in -ite. Sailor Moon also loved to name characters after objects--all the Dark Kingdom villains had stone names, not just the dudes (Queen Beryl, after all). I thiiiink villains in the Sailor Moon R and S seasons also got stone names? Yeah, like Emerald and Kaolinite were villain ladies too, I'm almost sure. That said, it's still Sailor Moon as gently caress. Which is why I love it.
