isn't this basically digital sharecropping? you buy the seeds and land (computer and electricity) for a fixed duration, and the landlord gets a fixed share of the crop, while you have to sell the rest of your crop to get what profit you can.

of course, you could always sell cotton for something. not sure what kodakcoin will sell for in 2 years, but i would guess nothing.

I believe former Yugoslavia did something like this, called workers' self-management. You can read here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economy_of_the_Socialist_Federal_Republic_of_Yugoslavia

Yugoslavia is a pretty good example of how at least this level of socialism could work just fine. The reasons it failed weren't really directly related, and it did just fine for quite a while under this system.

Hate to break it to you but blockchains are literally the opposite of consolidating

It's better the more datacenters you have.

blockchains can only work as intended if you can guarantee that a group of people with interest in steering it can never get more than 50% of the computational power behind it (not even bitcoin has managed this) else they can make it say whatever they want, these companies doing the whole blockchain thing themselves could just not use it cause the entire point is decentralization and not trusting any one actor individually
basically just ctrl-replace blockchain with fidget spinner or any other stupid fad and you can see how actually ridiculous this poo poo is. that there exist people who still insist the markets make any sense at all is mindblowing
For an internal blockchain the 50% verification thing can be an assistance towards an outside actor gaining control over a node and changing the database for all nodes, as they have to gain 51% control of the internal node network.

Granted that's only as good as the outside security of each network, but it is a feature that adds a basic layer of protection.

In regards to other uses the ease of just setting it up, connecting, and downloading the chain from the rest of the nodes makes it so you don't gotta have super smart people setting up the device, and you can consolidate that power to corporate even more, saving on local IT costs.
