popewiles posted:Your first and third paragraphs aren't wrong, but your second paragraph is dumb as poo poo. Yeah of course you can break a game by repeatedly spamming a technique that doesn't ever arise through organic gameplay. Jesus christ. Except you unintentionally abuse this mechanic when you die or come back after a play session. The developers realized it was irritating otherwise and then fixed it in the dumbest possible way. Reminds me of Fallout Tactics where the burst fire mechanics were so busted that certain guns would ALWAYS hit whatever was in the cone-of-fire, even if you missed the actual target it would still hit everything behind it. It was an exploit you literally could not help using if you used weapons that were basically designed to necessary past a certain point. Similarly in Isolation you're consistently taking advantage of this "failsafe" without even being aware of it.

JebanyPedal posted:True unpopular opinion Alien Isolation sucked nut, was way too long, spent more time on the annoying Androids than Alien, and had really simplistic stealth mechanics with a boring rear end story and the Alien stopped being scary because it was just an annoying brick wall instead of a threatening presence. Didn't know about the save thing but yeah, that was a loving garbage game people seemed to like for some reason.

Apparently no-one noticed but this isn't the unpopular video game opinions thread.
