Here's a story about a graduate instructor at UW after an "alt-right" student started causing problems in her class, including refusing to work with foreign students and saying he wanted to "violently repress left-wing activists on campus": https://www.attn.com/stories/16846/alt-right-scaring-students-away-liberal-college In an nutshell, the instructor didn't know what to do so she went to the administration, which didn't do anything except have various meetings (including with the student). One of her car windows was smashed out shortly after that. She then stopped teaching. I think the primary blame for this situation falls to the giant, bureaucratic administrations which have adopted a "corporate architecture for managing offensive" aimed at protecting the institution from legal liability, with the managing of offense falling to the college equivalent of a corporate H.R. department. The result is an internally contradictory system that encourages students to take complaints about other students (for offensive speech, say) to the administrators / H.R. department, which then ineffectually meddles in the dispute (in order to cover their rear end) and inflames the situation further. I've seen the same thing with advocates of sexual assault survivors arguing that allegations of rape should be handled internally by the university, and not involve the police, in order to protect victims. Critics have often attacked these campus "tribunals" as SJWs going on an anti-male witch hunt. But I'd reckon that having the university handle it is the worst possible option because it both inflames the right while quietly removing the rapist / assailant / etc. from campus without them seeing any real punishment or legal action. im seeing some more inflammatory posters for june 4 being put up in pdx, but apparently the protest is being a put on in a square that is adjacent to two federal buildings and the main downtown precinct so i'd be really surprised if it was more than two small angry groups surrounded by an entire wall of police
