What ever happened to the Abominable Iron Sloth? I'm listening to their first album and love their second, but they just sort of disappeared and it makes me sad. They're my preferred type of sludge, groovy and hateful.

After the second album the lead singer did a poo poo ton of mushrooms and called the cops to tell them that he was the angel of death. Last I heard he was in a mental health facility.

Yeah It's a minor thing but I've got a shirt from when The Id Will Overcome came out with their sloth disemboweling a wolf on it. I loving love that shirt but I've lots a fair bit of weight since then and it's enormous on me. It hangs in a corner of my closet, just in case I ever put on another 50lbs.

Speaking of The Body, "No One Deserves Happiness" is pretty great. Reminds me a lot of Dead Can Dance for some reason, if we lived in an alternate universe where they were a doom metal band.

Yeah I was listening to it tonight and it's good. Really looking forward to seeing the Body again next month. They put on a kinda weird show but there's definitely some energy there.

Just got in from Lo-Pan/Kings Destroy/Black Cobra/Bongzilla. Had a great time and managed to drag along a buddy who mainly goes to ska shows who really didn't know what he was in for. He was really confused about why Lo-Pan wasn't he headlining band.

Just saw Crowbar and it was unconscionably heavy. They played Like Broken Glass for the first time in years apparently, unrehearsed. Kirk actually messed up some lyrics. Cruelly, Bongzilla played the venue next door owned by the same people.

I've been listening to the New Oranssi Pazuzu album, Värähtelijä, it's pretty cool. It's definitely psychedelic and heavy, though they come to it through a black metal lens, but at this point it seems almost post-whatevs. https://oranssipazuzu.bandcamp.com/

Going to Sunn tomorrow for the first time. I am taking my wife (it is part of the Big Ears Festival here in Knoxville). Big Ears is a cool experimental festival with everything from drone, electronic, folk, classical, jazz, etc., but still she has no idea what she is in for when it comes to Sunn.
