I thought Bernie did great this debate, had a lot more energy than the first time around. Warren did well too, this was mostly the two of them beating up on some minions. In terms of candidates that went up in stock for me tonight, Buttigieg and Williamson. Like others in this thread I'm skeptical of Mayor Pete, but he said something tonight that I really liked: the Republicans are going to call us socialist no matter what we do, so there's no point in watering our policy down to compensate. That's a good message and I'm glad it came from someone not Warren or Sanders. Williamson had a great answer on reparations which imo was better at least half of the "serious" candidates on the stage could have produced. I would never vote for her but I think she's been a positive presence in this primary at least so far. Delaney, Ryan, Hickenlooper and Bullock were all interchangeably bad to me, I actually missed Eric Swalwell because at least he was lively on the topic of gun control. Bullock especially gave me strong vibes of just being in it to get a Biden cabinet position, Hickenlooper I'm convinced is only running to bash Sanders, Delaney I think is just a true believer ex-CEO, and Ryan may have distinguished himself as the worst just on the back of his "do you really want to take away union workers' healthcare" argument. Klobuchar and Beto did not distinguish themselves at all imo, they never seemed to get engaged in the main debate.

Until Biden quits, Pete has a place being in the race simply because he makes it bad form for Biden to proclaim himself a gay rights icon for his marriage stance. Pete felt like he started to signal tonight that he wouldn’t mind being somebody’s VP. He’s done too much shady poo poo to survive intense scrutiny, but half of it is kind of a representation of how states have intentionally starved cities of money to the point of harassing the poor to afford things.

Sanders knocked it for six. Great performance Warren hit a bunch of fours as well as stumping the republican candidates that somehow are in the democratic primary. Buttigieg said some things that sounded good because he's a psychopath robot that is also extremely online somehow and therefor knows what to say. I think he may have surrogates reading this forum. He's scary. He's a top batsmen that can also bowl some mad spin. Williamson is symptomatic of a sick and diseased Democratic party. Hopefully we get a vaccine for this shite ASAP. Does anyone know if CNN has put the debate up to be watched? I stupidly assumed that in this day and age of streaming I could watch it at my leisure but all I can find are highlights and analysis. I promised my friend I would watch it so I could talk about it with her :/

After Claire McCaskill, Rahm Emanuel, and all these other dipshits have started the whole "Medicare for all takes away your health insurance and gives it to illegal aliens" bullshit, I have decided that if the democratic candidate isn't running on M4A I will vote 3rd party. Anyone who pushes that talking point, or doesn't immediately push back against it, is an enemy.

An interesting note about the centrist wing VS Bernie is that much of their message revolves the idea about how if we raise the quality of life for everyone, union members won’t be able to enjoy markedly better lives than everyone else. I feel like I’ve been telling the guillotines gang forever, but union leadership is not your friend. They will sell you out to neoliberals the moment you give a salaried employee a benefit union hourlies enjoy.
