I have three songs that, to me, fit a style and theme. I'm looking for songs that have a similar style, musical theme, lyrical theme, or sound.

"Can You Get To That" by Funkadelic

"Movin' On Up" by Primal Scream

"Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show" by Neil Diamond

Each of the songs have a gospel approach, but aren't really gospel songs. I know that they're all different genres, but they still have that feel. "Brother Love" is kind of the odd one out, because it's about a tent revival, so it's missing out on the theme of redemption or a realization that redemption is needed, but it fits the theme musically.

"Can You Get To That" is the best template, though. Funky, catchy, lots of fun vocal harmony, with a slight gospel bent to it.

I hope this request isn't too esoteric. It's for a personal project, so anything would help.

Two songs that immediatley spring to mind are Blur- Tender and My Morning Jacket- Holdin' On To Black Metal

Indie rock/folk/acoustic is preferable.

Ween's album The Mollusk has a nautical theme to the whole album

She Wanted to Leave

The lyrics are interesting with this one. At first it sounds like some men come take a man's woman from him while they're at sea. But I think it's about a man who kidnaps a woman a when she was a child, and doesn't understand now how she can just leave when rescuers come aboard the ship.

And for good measure, The Blarney Stone (live)

Mastodon would be perfect if it wasn't so heavy. Obviously there's a scene for that, but it's not my kind of scene haha. I can handle Giant Squid though.

Hammerfall, Edguy, Gamma Ray, Iron Savior, maybe Sabaton? There's seriously like a million power metal bands from Germany and Sweden alone so there's really no shortage, I just dunno what you're already familiar with or what in particular about Freedom Call grabs you. Dragonforce explicitly cast themselves as a contrast to the predominant trends in power metal at the time ("boring mid-tempo power metal"), so you should have a lot of options

You are looking for a type of music called a mashup (which I guess counts as it's own genre). The Grey Album by Danger Mouse, Wugazi, and Q-Tipokratiya are the only mashups I find interesting enough to listen to more than once. Also Girl Talk as alnilam mentioned (not my taste but very popular).

I'm looking for electronic music with metrically ambiguous rhythms. By that I mean music that sounds like the emphasis is on one part of the bar, but actually is somewhere else. (This isn't the same thing as having a weird time signature, btw.)

Here's an example from pop music. Everyone knows In the Air Tonight, but the beat is ambiguous; if you try listening to it, counting right from the start, you'll find it difficult to come in when Phil does, on the right beat.

Looking for a few things as I'm currently back in a phase where I like wanky instrumental stuff.

More solo bass players
I'm a bassist so I'm always a sucker for this. I've got most of the big names--Stanley Clarke, Les Claypool, Marcus Miller, Jaco Pastorius, Stuart Hamm, getting around to Victor Wooten eventually (is it a shame that I've never listened to him after playing for 8 years?). Any albums that are worth listening to?

Jazz Fusion
Already have Al di Meola, Billy Cobham, Brand X, Frank Zappa, Mahavishnu Orchestra/John McLaughlin, Weather Report, Herbie Hancock and Bitches Brew-era Miles Davis. My favorite of this is Mahavishnu.

Instrumental guitar that isn't super-cheesy
My problem with shred guitar is less that it's "soulless" and more that most of the well-known albums in this genre are very much a product of their era. I'm looking at you in particular, Yngwie. Any good instrumental guitar albums that don't feel extremely late 80s/early 90s? Already have Eric Johnson's Ah Via Musicom (which isn't totally exempt from this problem). Same with Satriani, and I'm looking into Jason Becker/Marty Friedman/Cacophony and Michael Schenker (whose playing I adore in UFO).

Some worship music that I can vibe to that isn't the crappy pop-rock, pop-country, guy doing guitar solos to Our God is an Awesome God type stuff.

Even more 'modern' sounding stuff like:

I think mine is pretty simple. I just saw the movie Ray for the first time, and I really want to get a couple of his album's, but don't know where to start. Every greatest hits album on Amazon seems like it has completely different songs. I'd love a suggestion of one solid greatest hits album and an overall album that might be considered one of his strongest. If the two overlap, I'd be willing to substitute the greatest hits album with an album you may feel is underrated. Thanks in advance.

The Mountain Goats have an album called The Life of the World to Come in which every track is named after and inspired by specific verses in the Bible. It's not worship music and they're not all explicitly religious, but if you know your scriptures you should be able to get a lot out it; Think of them as like short stories with a biblical core.

Inbred Mountain is all right, It's Alive is pretty decent. I really don't know what else to recommend though because there's usually a pretty equal ratio of great:stinkers in every album.
