Trap Star posted:I was really hoping the guy filming crashed into the guy who was "texting". I'm pretty sure he was drunk or something too because that's a lot of swerving. I think it's funny that he thinks filming with one hand while driving is particularly more safe than texting while driving. It's still something that takes at least one of your hands and part of your attention. He should have just called the police, deputy dogsack would be out there ASAP for a sweet DWI arrest.

It is, I've tried a similar simulator once and as long as you keep your eyes on the monitor, it works quite well. For the best effect, you need a flat background and not a furnished room like these guys, seeing the room move around really kills the immersion. You can't simulate more than 1g in any direction for obvious reasons, but that's probably more than enough for most people

The length of time it takes to go from 1g acceleration to 1g braking looks like it would be really disconcerting.

My dad had a 1982 911SC, bought from new and sold in about 5 years ago as he didn't have the garage space. I was 17 and just getting interested in cars. Now, I just.... that noise... WHY. It simultaneously reminds me of my childhood and give me 'driving tingle'. My cousin bought it off him and takes incredible care of it, when I have a job (currently poor student) it is SO getting bought back.

So ever wonder what it's like to lose control of your car at 250+ mph? Other than the high speed, I'm not sure I'd call those "related". Jim Kirk (the driver who crashes at 250+) has broken the world speed record at Bonneville in 5 different classes from the early 90's to 2009. I'm not sure how many are currently still standing, at least 3 though. Don't think I'd call him even 'somewhat related' to a Jackass in the area of driving cars fast, or building fast cars.
