To be fair at least in Berserk rape for character development isn't exclusive to the women, and rape is unequivocally portrayed as bad and traumatic, which is damning with faint loving praise. It's a lot though, and while it has the best storytelling I've seen in comics, (Probably tying with All Star Superman for my favorite) I don't fault someone for dropping or skipping it because it's brutal in a lot of ways. I'm just heavily invested in Caska and I've been reading on and off since I was 16 so sunk cost fallacy. I was too until it was clear the author was going to take FOREVER to get to her mental facilities being restored. Apparently it JUST happened in a recent issue. She was by far my favorite character from the first arc and having her being reduced to a babylike mental state because of demon rape was hacky and insulting. There's SO many more interesting ways the author could have taken the story, and he picked the absolute least creative one. I tried to stick with it over the years, but my tastes have changed a lot in the last, uh, 2 decades, and I just don't tolerate certain tropes anymore. Sorry, I know it's a tattoo thread, but I got opinions about ANIMES.
