I couldn't imagine spending that long on one game. 50 hours is super long to me now. The witcher only got a pass because it was the only game I had for my ps4 at the time and I lived alone. then I played the DLC over a year later and it alone was like a good length game.

that's extremely exaggerated, yeah. importers ive talked to said 70-80. and unless by 'completionist' they mean 'doing a newgame+ run also' that 180 horus thing is lol

yeah i am usually averse to long games even if they are well paced, i feel like a game over a certain length just straight up cannot be well paced, but there are exceptions. the witcher 3 is absolutely chock full of high quality content and you can choose whether or not to engage with most of it, so i put a lot of hours into that game and didn't at any point feel like it was dragging or a chore

persona 3 and 4 were both very long games that i mostly didnt feel like dragged either, although persona 4 did a miserable job with the pacing of the opening.

100 hours for Persona 5 sounds nightmarish, but then I remember that when I played P3FES it took me about 90 hours and I never really felt it getting dull, so I'm optimistic

That is nowhere as long as P5 took for me. It was closer to 50-60 to finish tops.

I don't understand how you managed to get through it while I'm stuck in the middle somewhere at 65 hours and not dragging my feet or anything.

Edit: started the casino area a while ago, that is. Is it a lot closer to the end of the game than I think from looking at the calendar?

I donno. I get through games fast. I know people spent 90+ hours on Persona 4 golden and my last playthrough was similarly around 50 hours instead. I think I just burn things quickly.

Nonsense. Persona 4 is the story of a guy who keeps falling into random TV shows because he wants to date all the waifus, right?

My breaking point on too much anime is if I have characters commenting on their breast size or that wearing cat ears is sooo cute!!! Harem stuff in general gets on my nerves.

Ar No Surge and the Atelier series have done that, gently caress em. GUST is on my avoid list.

I really, really hope Nier Automata doesn't pull that. I don't recall Nier or Drakengard 3 being that horrible. (D3 might have been, but Yoko Taro games are extremely my poo poo and I can forgive that.)

I enjoy asses so I have 0 problems with that. (Not that I'm going to play Automata in rear end mode, feels disrespectful to 2B and I won't treat her character as just eye candy.)

Anything Moe is just eye rolling embarrassing.

I remember Drakengard 3 having weird sexual stuff in it but I forgot 85% of that game. My memory sucks sometimes.

drakengard 3 has fps issues and the gameplay is like 1/10th as good because it's not by platinum but the writing is interesting.

the original nier is actually a decent action rpg in its own right, though. just only do the sidequests that seem interesting instead of like a pain.

That depends on the game. Some of them are actively embarrassing, some are not. The dusk trilogy was pretty great.

Nier is good, sometimes amazing. Drakengard 3 has some funny lines but the game itself is terrible.

If this sounds like not your thing then do not get P5 under any circumstances. More so than ever before, the dungeon crawling takes a backseat to that stuff. Just get SMT instead.

On the other hand, if you like the high school dating sim aspect, the one actual high school dating sim I have played, which I am told is fairly representative of the genre, was much more streamlined and relaxing.
