THS posted:every explanation of successful anarchist projects just involves coming up with different words for why some coercive state power isn’t actually coercive state power, because we’ve laundered the terms used through the wash a few times I'm not as well read on the subject as I could be so I'm probably missing something, but every left anarchist re-conceptualization of law enforcement I've heard seems like it would break down into an easy method for well respected/in-good-standing community members to use their status to blame everything on unliked people and outgroups. I mean also not like what we currently have is any better so grain of salt. I've also never understood how the libertarian private contracted police forces wouldn't immediately turn into mafia-esque protection rackets, but who knows.

it’s just theoretical obfuscation of how real life power dynamics play out. you can rationalize anything if you make up your own language. communists and leninists have been plenty guilty of hand waving away problems with heavy doses of made up terms that conceal plain meaning but at least it doesn’t have a delusional understanding of the intermediate steps required to seize power under capitalism, though the fact it hasn’t done so for a long time does suggest that capitalism has adapted or better immunized itself against leftwing organizing, so different thinking is definitely encouraged - doing stuff by rote is a bad idea. that’s why i supported the sanders campaign, because you really have to take whatever opening you can get. anyway i hope memes bring us communism.

The short answer is that the answer is long, but with instruments of oppression removed and proper psychiatric care the theory is that most crime would disappear, and indeed this seems to check out in Chiapas. Consider that property is a completely different concept in an anarchist society, too. For what's left there's various ideas more or less corresponding to some sort of community rule, which could indeed be dangerous for 'outgroups' and the idea there is socialist education of a significant chunk of society etc. plus as you say it's not like centralised police forces do better lol, you just need to have an in with the DA or whatever. American MLs are more represented by stuff like the former ISO or PSL or SAlt, and left wing tendencies within the DSA than something like the red guards. not that those orgs have much to brag about either. but anarchism has even less to offer as a way out of capitalism
