if you don't like this contest... geeze. ugh... i don't even know what to say. its a great contest that encourages people to post harder / better. and a six hour probe is meaningless, we all can afford to step away from the forum for six hours without a serious disruption in our lives |

I don't like this contest because it only takes one or two goons voting a thread a one to bring the rating down to a four but it takes a lot of fives to cancel out those one votes. Maybe make it so that at the end of the time period something different happens for each rating, like if its a 5 you win, if its a 4 nothing, if it's a 3 small probation, if it's a 2 something worse etc. I dunno I'm just spitballin here

Also, you can easily cheese the contest by picking a thread like the quilt thread which already has 100s of 5 votes, maybe change the rules so that only threads posted after the contest started can be nominated?

I understand where you're coming from but the punishment is a 6 hour probation which really isn't that big a deal and the real purpose is to spotlight cool BYOB threads for people to read and (hopefully) post in

I mean, yeah, it'll probably result in lots of 6 hour probies, but eating a sixer is nothing (that's what my gf says every night in bed lol), and it gives threads attention, which is good, and plus, I don't know how many of you know but one of the greatest sustained performances in byob 8.2 history is that there's one poster who has rated every single thread a 1 for like the past 9 months (I'm not naming them because i think they might prefer to remain anonymous).
