actually Louis C/K is very very funny and I always buy his comedy specials but that TV show thing he's putting out for like $3 an episode with Steve Buscemi in it is loving horrible, as are about 50% of the episodes of his cable TV show. he's needs to stop trying to be a serious artist

I like Louis CK's cathartic style of humor (though Patton Oswalt is better), and his new show with Steve Buscemi covers some raw topics in ways that you don't see often. It is about a bar with weird family ties that is pressured to keep afloat by old dudes who see their long tradition as being discarded, but the daughter who has actual legal rights to the bar wants to sell it because it's just a festering reminder of a long family history of wife abusers and alcoholics. It's a heavy emotional conflict that reveals the human element of a dying perspective, and whose writers nonetheless acknowledge the modern view's moral and legal upper hand. It's not funny though, As someone with old people in my life who seem attached to an idyllic view of an ugly past, I found it moving.
