I just realized that, since my "cluster" is actually just 4x 64 core servers, I am really only doing this four times since /dev/urandom isn't going to be independently sampled by each of the 64 cores.

explains why I haven't seen any dead beefs yet

it's not like they'll read the same thing, but they will get contention on the PRNG so performance won't necessarily scale with cores
