Guzzler

Did... did the dragon just talk about flying ?

A wave of enthusiasm submerges Guzzler and before they realize what they are doing, they are trying to climb onto the dragon's back, cawing with glee. They are surprisingly light for their size, about ninety pounds for their five foot something frame.

Bugsy

Watching Guzzler (he assumes drunkenly) trying to mount Dalzranorth, Bugsy sighs, reaches up, and takes his pack off his back.

"Don't want to drop that, little bird."

He looks to the dragon and raises an eyebrow.

"Anything you need carried, Dal?"

It, and his rations, slump to the ground] "It's not that heavy, but I'm not quite robust enough to carry much more during flight." [Dalz picks up the harness and hands it to Bugsy] "Thank you."

1. Ledge

Crushclaw easily makes his way down the fairly new rope, as he makes his way down he finds a sandy ledge that overlooks a subterranean gulf of darkness to the west. The ledge is wide but rough. Sand, rocky debris, and the bones of small animals cover it. A rough hewn stairwell zigs and zags down the side of the ledge, descending into darkness.

He his feet touch the floor he hears some screeching and a series of bodies slam into him two giant rats rip into him and put him down. He is bleeding out, having had no time to even see his attackers. Luckily Dalzanorth and Guzzler were on their way down.

Crushclaw climbs down, not quietly, the rats hide then rush the first person to land. And a crit on one followed by a pack tactics advantage attack with a good damage roll on the other is enough to put Crushclaw down. Didn't roll for the third rat as that would potentially have outright killed Crushclaw.

Guzzler

Guzzler pull out their flute and jam it into their beak as the descent begins, the wind ruffling through their feathers. This wasn't quite flying but drat, it's the closest they had ever gotten so far. Guzzler did their best to hold on with their legs, freeing their hands to play the old tune they usually played when dreaming of the big open sky.

As they approach the ground Guzzler snaps back to reality and actually realizes the precarious position Crushclaw and Feng are in. They let go of the flute and vault off Dalz' back as soon as it is safe enough to do so. Their staff whirs through the air and one of the rats barely has enough time to jump to the side before it hits the ground with a loud thud. This last minute dodge leaves it off-balance and Guzzler capitalizes on that mistake with a lashing kick, raking the rat with their talons.

Staff misses, unarmed strike hits for 6, rat is in very bad shape.

Guzzler messes up one rat, and Dalzanorth nearly melts the other two. Yet they all survive. The rest of the group does not accomplish much in exterminating the rats. But luckily avoid most of the rats' retaliations. Though Dalzanorth does get bitten by one of the rats.

Feng concentrates and gives one of the rats an aneurysm, causing it to keel over and die, blood seeping out of its nose and mouth. Zemo drops down landing with a thud on one of the rats, squishing it and getting a bit bruised in the process. And Dalzanorth snaps up the last rat with a bite.

Two misses and a hit, even with advantage. Dalzanorth took 4 damage.

Zemo, Dalzanorth and Crushclaw begin descending the stairwell to the first ledge, then to the second. As they reach the second they can begin to see the darkness below.

2. Switchback Stairs

A fortress emerges from the darkness. The subterranean citadel, though impressive, seems long forgotten, if the lightless windows, cracked crenellations, and leaning towers are any indication. All is quiet, though a cold breeze blows up from below, bringing with it the scent of dust and a faint trace of rot.

They continue on

3. Crumbled Courtyard

The narrow stairs empty into a small courtyard, apparently the top of what was once a crenellated battlement. The buried citadel has sunk so far into the earth that the battlement is now level with the surrounding floor. That floor stretches away to the north and south, composed of a layer of treacherous, crumbled masonry, which reaches to an unknown depth . To the west looms the surviving structure of what must be the Sunless Citadel. A tower stands on the west side of the courtyard.

The courtyard is dark, so Guzzler lights a torch. Dalzranorth strides forward and falls into a hidden trapdoor, he smacks into the ground and then gets eaten by a giant rat. Or at least savagely bitten and falls unconscious, bleeding to death. Crushclaw rushes up and throws a dagger at the rat, severely hurting it. Zemo throws a javelin at it but misses. Dalzranorth's wounds get worse. And then Guzzler moves up and throws a dart at the rat. Killing it. Dalzranorth continues to bleed.

Guzzler give the rope around their waist one last tug before giving the dragon a thumbs up and jumping onto the trapdoor and down the hole. There doesn't actually seem to be all that much down here, a scimitar, a shield and the goblin's coin pouch. Guzzler grab all they can and search through their memory for a sentence to use as a signal.

"That should... that should be enough, right?" Dalz's voice rings out from the hole. It wasn't perfect but it should do.

Once Guzzler is back up, they pass around the items, having little use for them themselves. The coin pouch contains a whopping 23 sp and 4 gp. They leave the pouch with the others, someone would divvy up the wealth at the end of their adventure, probably Feng or Zemo. Their attention is drawn to the small catwalk that leads to the door of the room. Tilting their head sideways they try to make out any traps or dangers but can't find anything.

Guzzler creep towards the door, tapping the floor in front of them with their quarterstaff.
