I often get burgers that have bacon and cheese mixed into the ground beef, and I like them a lot. I've never found them to be particularly greasy. Maybe they used bad bacon, or didn't cook it long enough?

Maybe they used bad bacon, or didn't cook it long enough? just spitballing but maybe the thing to do is to render and basically cook/par-cook the bacon before mixing it into the beef? not saying make it crispy necessarily, but given that many people like burgers that are pink to bloody in the middle, might be safer anyway; it would impart the bacony flavor and a certain amount of fat but not like gobs and gobs of fat.
