Not so much a "story" mode as a "special feature" mode (the word is 特集). Puzzle 1  Horyuji Temple Nara Prefecture, Ikoma district Founded by Prince Shotoku The oldest wooden building in the world. Puzzle 2  Horyuji Temple Shaka Triad statue Nara Prefecture, Nara City Life-size statue in the image of Prince Shotoku, sculpted as a prayer for his recovery when he lay afflicted by illness. Note: Did a bit of googling here and supposedly the inscription on the statue actually reads that it was made at the time of Shotoku's death, to help him ascend to the Pure Land. Puzzle 3  Itsukushima Shrine Hiroshima Prefecture, Saeki District Constructed by Taira no Kiyomori. A large torii surrounded by the ocean and the unspoiled forests of Miyajima. Puzzle 4  Byodo-in Phoenix Hall Kyoto Prefecture, Uji City A villa that was converted into a temple by Fujiwara no Yorimichi's father, Michinaga. Puzzle 5  Ninna-ji Temple Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City Emperor Uda lived here after his retirement, so it is also known as "Omuro Gosho" (Imperial Residence). Puzzle 6  Kiyomizu Temple's stage Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City The cypress-wood stage on the cliff in front of the main building offers an abundance of beautiful views. The only reason I called it Story was because that's what the simple menu translation on Gamefaqs called it. Still pretty neat to learn what they actually are! Thanks!

Ryoanji Temple Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City Temple founded by Hosokawa Katsumoto. The abbot's residence's rock garden is a superb example of the karesansui style.  Rokuonji Kinkaku Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City Ashikaga Yoshimitsu lived here after he retired, when it was still known as "Kitayama Palace".  Himeji Castle Hyogo Prefecture, Himeji City This castle's construction is typical of the Azuchi-Momoyama period, centered on the main tower, which has five storeys on the outside, but six floors inside.  Shirakawago Gifu Prefecture, Ono District The people here still live in these large, thatched-roof gassho-zukuri houses.  Honganji Hiunkaku Pavilion Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City A building in Nishihonganji Temple. Its asymmetric harmony is a feature distinct to Momoyama period architecture. By the way, from trying to find out what all these little summaries are talking about, I can tell you that there's a lot of interesting history to all of the places the game features and the people it mentions in passing, so it's well worth looking them up yourselves.

I generally try to cut off a good conversation point moreso than a puzzle (although it usually lines up reasonably well). Part 16: It's Like Portal, If You Took a Hit of Acid First Play Antichamber, y'all.

I wanted to like Antichamber, but then I got stuck/ran out of new areas to explore, and absolutely none of the guides I could find could get me back on track (they all either were deliberately vague or assumed I already had an item that I hadn't found). Still don't know what I did wrong

The trick is that if a room on the map is represented by a larger square, it means there's an exit you haven't taken from that room. That might help you find the next place to go. There are multiple ways to progress for most of the game, but they're not all obvious.

I was wondering if anyone was going to mention that. It's very good; there's like three complaints I have against it but they're all relatively minor as the puzzles are all well curated and IMO hit the sweet spot on not being too large but still challenging enough you can't totally autopilot them. Autocompletion exists, but it will not tell you if you made a mistake on filled in squares so you still have to watch what you're doing.

My favorite Mario game is probably SMB3. I... haven't actually played many of the 3D games. I played a bit of Mario 64 back when it came out, and even less of the first Super Mario Galaxy, but that's about it.
