I didn’t have an opinion on Dave Matthews until a few years ago this older guy and his wife figured out there was an phone app for the jukebox at my neighborhood bar. Every loving time they came in they’d play the same three live songs which meant 30+ straight minutes of Dave Matthews. People would do the “pay an extra credit to jump to to the top of the queue” thing once the first song started. I learned that they were not Melvins fans this way

It was a modestly original sound in it's time and was decent enough. Getting heavy into stoner / jamband culture and the fan worship that comes with that breeds contempt.

There's that one song about a Monkey or something and he can't sing so he's literally going like "WUUUUAAARH YIIIURRR" like he's trying to be soulful and it just sounds like he's in pain so I stopped listening. Terrible, bad and awful.

I like it, some of the lyrics are cool, some cool guitar parts, other instruments besides guitar/bass/drums/keys add different vibe, Dave sang with passion which can stir the emotions of the listener Not like a music aficionado guy so I don't know if this is an acceptable opinion.
