This might be a discussion for normie tools. The real question of 30 year old album anniversaries is what was better, Just for a Day or Loveless?

Both great albums but I'm giving the nod to Loveless

Northsides debut album, Chicken Rhythms came out same day. An incredible debut album that got squashed by the horrible birth of grunge. Also:

The first real concert I ever went to was RHCP on their Californication tour with the Foo Fighters. The opening band, with no stage lights or anything was some guys called The Muse. Turns out they made better music but I was a dumb kid.

I liked Muse before every song they made became a variation on the Doctor Who theme.

RCHP holds a special spot in my heart from when I was in middle school. Same with nirvana. Nirvana blows out within 2-3 years even if Cobain doesn't get got by c love.

Hey fellow old person, I had the chance to see Nirvana around the time that Nevermind came out but I was really going because I wanted to see the opening band Cracker. I didn't go because it was raining that night lol

The way I remember it, Nirvana were big after Nevermind but In Utero and Unplugged were kind of flops. The band was headed the way of Stone Temple Pilots or Mudhoney in terms of mainstream success (ie just on the fringes) but then Kurt died and they went astronomical.

It's funny how your opinion can cloud your memory. Nirvana were already huge before he died and were just getting bigger. All his death did was make people feel sorry for Courtney Love and buy her lovely albums for a little while.

Love both to pieces.

But in 1991 I was a big fan of RHCP. A friend got me into them with Mother's Milk and I adored Organic Anti Beat Box Band. All of their catalog up to that point seemed like logical progression, but BSSM was like light years beyond and I found to be jaw dropping amazing.

Could listen to the solo and outro of Sir Psycho Sexy forever.
