A rework to the tax system that results in Non negotiable, No loop holes to exploit taxing. Flat tax or gradual (progressive) tax, whatever, but you should not be able to escape or reduce what you would pay by hiring an army of accountants. And corporations should not be people. And lobbyist groups need a reworking. Actually, a lot of government seats need reworks. A lot of problems rise from. People not wanting to get voted out, so they'll do and say whatever to stay in power, even if it's just pandering to their dumb rear end base. (This assumes the rep themselves is not a dumbass, which is gracious, I know, but we need to approach stuff like this in good faith.)
