I missed that there's a new Wrekmeister Harmonies record. https://wrekmeisterharmonies.bandcamp.com/album/light-falls I loved Night of Your Ascension - this has a bit less of the walls of noise and screams, but it's still recognisably the same artist and I quite like the GY!BE influence.

Although Omar has said he wants to put out as many LP's as possible this year, so I don't know how available he'd be to tour. Fake edit: Apparently the record isn't due out until 2017 so here's hoping.

I saw Ufomammut and Monolord last night. They were loving amazing. The openers (Zong and Magic Hobo) were pretty outstanding too. They had some technical issues, but I don't care, it was awesome. Musician ear plugs have been the best purchase I've made.

I was at an earlier show and Monolord were ok but they should have cut their set short by like half because all the songs sound the same and it's boring as poo poo after a while. Ufomammut were very good though.

What's the best way to find shows to go to for stoner/doom metal? I'm in Boston and have been wanting to check out a show, is there like an aggregate show-finder?

I just played Boston, find local bands on Facebook, go to shows, make friends, add them, get invites to local shows, repeat. Lemme find the bands we played with, they kicked rear end and are sure to play with more touring bands. Edit: Glacier, Mollusk, Ozeki, were the bands we played with and they kicked rear end, check out the venues they play and start hanging out at those places. 4 RING SHRIMP posted:What's the best way to find shows to go to for stoner/doom metal? I'm in Boston and have been wanting to check out a show, is there like an aggregate show-finder? ONCE in Somerville and Great Scott and O'Brien's in Allston are definitely venues to check in on now and again. There are certainly more that do metal shows, but I would say I have been to the most shows at those three. Lord Almighty, which is kind of a mix of a lot of different styles but might scratch an itch for you, has a show coming up at ONCE on Wednesday, November 30th. I tend to just check out the bands I like in the area to keep tabs on shows. Grayskull Booking does a lot of good shows, so check in on their page. https://www.facebook.com/grayskullbooking/ And a lot of the people in the local bands are cool and like to talk about what's coming up, so if you can manage to strike up friendship with a few, they'll be great resources. Hot Diggity! posted:Check out Forn my man if memory serves they're from Boston Not so much anymore. I think only one of the guitarists still lives in Boston, the rest are in I think NYC and Chris Pinto is out in Oakland or something like that. I wish they still lived in the city, they are great live. Looking forward to their new stuff.

Saw The Sword and Opeth last night. Opeth is probably not in context with this thread (but holy sweet baby black metal Jesus they were amazing), but The Sword totally delivers a 70's stoner vibe. Super good. They pulled heavily from the later material and didn't drop their bitchin' cover of "Cheap Sunglasses" on the Houston crowd, but it was still an excellent performance. Their merch table was disappointing though. No vinyl, and I already have a Sword t-shirt.

Saw Subrosa play in Camden last week 'cause a friend is fan of support band (kind of proggy folk-metal, pretty good), but holy poo poo, Subrosa were something else. https://subrosausa.bandcamp.com/album/no-help-for-the-mighty-ones Metal needs more sludge-y violins, and these guys have two! They seem to have just finished touring Europe, but playing in US next month: https://subrosa.cc/shows/

Just saw sleep, agreed with everyone else in the thread that has raved about em, their show was amazing. Cisneros came out rocking an epic beard and hair combo and some stoned out dude next to me exclaimed "he's like Jesus or something," and I'd have to agree. They played dopesmoker out of order, playing the last part first and then they went right into the middle of the dopesmoker riff and guitar solo, it was awesome. Also I had ear plugs in but they did gently caress all, my ears are still ringing 2 hours later. so many drat amps.
