its kind of amazing how trump has modern medicine and hundreds of thousands of dollars in plastic surgery and he still manages to look like dogshit compared to a guy dying of polio 70 years ago

Samurai Sanders posted:Why can Christie be so arrogant and still expect to get reelected anyway? Trump doesn't seem to know or care about future elections, but I assume Christie does. Has he done away with all his potential competitors beforehand or something? It's actually very simple he's term limited and it's already up

Samurai Sanders posted:Oh, I didn't know that. Well, is he not worried about votes for his Republican successor? At this point, Christie totally ignoring other New Jersey Republicans and going "gently caress you, I'll govern like I want" is probably the best thing for them. He's less popular than on-the-verge-of-impeachment Nixon and according to 538 this morning, he's the fourth least popular governor since opinion polls became a thing, and two of them were on their way out the door because of criminal scandals. Democrats have a supermajority in both chambers of the state legislature, so it's not like even if he were liked there is anything he could do to advance any kind of a legislative agenda even if he were popular. Between the George Washington Bridge Scandal (screw calling anything -gate) and publicly being made Trump's bitch, only to be denied any position in Washington, it's hard to imagine how his political fortunes could get worse, short of a criminal conviction. So, he's gonna keep doing what he's doing and I don't think there's anything anyone could say or do that would influence him one iota.
