Dude on Reddit saying him and his brother are still grandfathered into annual moviepass plan even though brother watched 20 movies. I have 24 and that was good enough for them but I'm also in a non flyover state so

First movie in the mystery marathon was After Hours, which I love. Was a 35mm print clearly from the original release and the wear and tear seemed to fit it perfectly.

After Hours is lowkey my favorite Scorsese flick so it sounds like the marathon is off to a great start. That'd be dope if the theme of the night is "movies that take place over one night."

Second movie was The Odd Couple, which makes sense (RIP Neil Simon 💔). I’d never seen it before, and it was neat but imo the opening half-hour with the poker gang in the apartment is so much better than the rest.

Yeah, I'm not sure how they would have never seen Milla Jovovich in another movie.

The Fourth Kind framed the movie as a dramatization of real events, Milla Jovovich introduces herself and says as much in the trailer. I never saw it, but I remember seeing the trailer in theaters:

I love After Hours and that would be an absolutely sick theme for a marathon.

You'd still have to be really loving stupid to think anything in that movie actually happened.

NEWT REBORN
The Fourth Kind isn’t a movie about aliens; it’s about unreliable narration, misleading documentary techniques, apophenia, and truth being stranger than fiction.

Blaming everything on aliens is banal, but a series of mundane events and misunderstandings that culminate in a woman being accidentally hypnotized into snapping her own spine in half? Well, that’s a good story. Fourth Kind has a lot in common with The Visit in this sense.

The universe must hate me or something. After a massive snowstorm kept me from seeing a screening of The Passion of Joan of Arc back in March I was on my way to a different screening of it tonight when my car's engine started acting up.

Might've hosed up my car but I still got to see it. No fate but what what we make for ourselves.

Final film was RUMBLE IN THE BRONX which was a perfectly ridiculous way to end this marathon.

So the five movies were:

After Hours (35mm)
The Odd Couple (DCP)
Rollerball (35mm)
Go (DCP)
Rumble in the Bronx (35mm)

Can’t think of any connection or theme between the five, but it was a hell of a night. I hope the PCC do more in the future, this was the first one they’ve done in years.
