(This is not a defense of anyone as much as expanding the scope conversation a little.) It's not just that some people vote only on their tax rate/their stupid dreams of one day being rich and having a lower tax rate for "when" that happens. It's that there is also a disturbingly large number of people for whom "politics" is a nebulous game/concept that doesn't actually affect anyone's lives. (As seen in the whole "why are you demonizing people you disagree with, that's not nice!" line of B.S.) I always have trouble wrapping my head around that sort of thing, though, past maybe professional political types who feel they have to justify to themselves what they're doing.

I'm aware of a bunch of people who say they voted for Trump because gas prices were low. I think they're full of poo poo and don't want to be yelled at, but yeah it could be they just truly don't give a poo poo. Probably both.

These are the people who @ members of Rage Against The Machine and tell them to play music and stay out of politics. For the most part it's disingenuous and they're Trump supporters who don't want to wrap their heads around the fact that most of their favourite bands/artists would despise them if they were to meet IRL. Jericho might not fall into that category in particular but folks that still think politics is a hobby or a game after the last four years are either tremendously privileged or insanely dumb and Jericho is a big yeehaw to both.

Yeah, you're talking about people who don't really need to care about politics. They don't need poo poo so the only thing to sell them is ideas. Also the parties love selling to those folks because you don't need to tell them how you'll put food on the table and make sure they have a job, you just say vague poo poo about crushing their enemies and telling them how pretty and smart they are.

Remember, a lot of our outrage against Jericho came from him going all "All Lives Matter", retweeting nazis' fake stories about BLM violence, and blocking a kid who politely and passionately explained to a wrestler he loves why "BLM" matters to him. So like... whether or not being "just" someone who votes on taxes or sees politics as a thing separate from real consequences is an "excuse" (I don't believe it is) or not Jericho's shown he's much more "political" than that in the past in a bunch of different ways.
