derek says some dumb things sometimes but his attitude of "dont like my game? gently caress off, dont buy it" is far better than "dont like the game because its wildly different than what you paid for? suck a ten year ban, we're keeping your money." but yeah "those who cant create, critique" is a load of bollocks when it comes to subjective stuff like enjoying a game. either take the criticism on board or disregard it but dont pretend an opinion is invalid

One thought that's been nagging me for quite a while is 'why are there so many rabid defenders of SC?' Why do so many people shout down any criticism of the game, despite it's increasingly obvious flaws? I can understand why the senior management refuse to take notice of any valid critisism - they simply want the pledge gravy-train to keep going to pay their salaries I can understand that there are some mentally-challenged people out there, who refuse to see the blatently obvious because they've been blinded by the shiny-shiny. I can even understand the sunk-cost fallacy of those whose have invested so much (either time or money). So who else would benefit by the circus continuing for as long as possible? One possibility that occured to me is the grey market for ships. I don't know how this grey-market works, but is it possible to make lots of money (or al least a lucrative part-time income) from buying limited (!) ships and then flipping them on the grey-market for profit? CIG seem to be cracking down on transferring ships between backers recently, so could this be a reason why more critism is being seen of late? After all, if your 'nice-little-earner' has just been taken away, then there's no longer any reason to keep up the facade. On another note (which may or may not be related to the above) - When I look at any thread on the RSI forums that expresses concern, the associated poll typically disagrees by a large percentage, apparently rendering the concern invalid. But looking at the actual number of votes, it always seems to be very low compared to the supposed number of backers (votes in the hundreds usually). The is a very low sample-size which makes me think it's just a relatively few backers (possibly using multiple accounts) voting against any poll that expresses concern.
