I've spent the last few months playing "Spend the Night with...Games" on repeat (mixtape by Daniel Lopatin/Oneohtrix Point Never and Joel Ford.) It has stuff like Roger Troutman, Billy Griffin, Colonel Abrams, Atlantic Starr, Mai Tai...a kind of music I never really spent a lot of time with until now. Does anyone have recommendations in this vein?

I'm looking for some anthem-y, energetic, punk-ish songs for a workout playlist. I like these two Black Flag songs... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3yUQFluNq0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHR-rzUjCzU And I also like this song by Dropkick Murphys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PPC0kTWaE7I Any other suggestions for this sort of thing?

You'll want to check out The Thermals, though I can't say I'd use 'em for a workout playlist, 'anthemic high energy punk' couldn't describe them more perfectly. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSjdQG6fec0

All right I need some new sounds. I kind of vary between two main sorts of things. I write for a living and so stuff that is heavily instrumental works great, because I don't get distracted by lyrics. Soundtracks (to movies/games) are pretty great for this. For instance: Assault on Precinct 13, Hotline: Miami, Maniac (the Elijah Wood version), Drive, Sword & Sworcery. Also stuff like Explosions in the Sky, El Ten Eleven, or Pinback and Ghostland Observatory (which I know both of the last two have lyrics, but the way they sing them makes them sort of sink into the background? It's hard to explain). Otherwise, when I'm not writing, I like stuff like Moonface (and Wolf Parade and Sunset Rubdown, but I'm listening to the hell out of Moonface), Midlake, John Grant, The Decemberists, The Builders and the Butchers, and uh, I don't know, Black Prairie.

You can also look up a bunch of the artists on the Hotline: Miami soundtrack, since iirc all the tracks from that are actually pulled from the native albums. Also the Beyond the Black Rainbow Soundtrack. For more just general chill instrumental-ish music, Boards of Canada and Stars of the Lid.

I'm looking at doing another Fallout play through, so I want to add to my post-apocalyptic playlist. The playlist includes: Aphex Twin, cEkin Key (the entire Dragon Experience and some select other tracks), Coil, Covenant, Funker Vogt, lacunae, Throbbing Gristle, Zentriet ins Antiltz, Clint Mansell stuff and the soundtrack from Dredd. I also have a few other scattered songs in there from various artists, but the list hasn't been updated since like 2009. So I am pretty much looking for any kind of music that is very atmospheric for exploring a nuclear wasteland. Whether it is just noise, dire songs or really anything else that would fit for that type of situation. I am out of the loop of newer music, so hopefully some people can help me.

I really like frantic sounding jam music. It's mostly psychedelic stuff as you can imagine. I'm going to post a little sample playlist to clarify what I'm talking about : Cellophane - King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard I generally like hypnotic music I can fall into where vocals aren't necessarily nonexistent but do blend in the background somewhat. Invocation & Ritual Dance Of The Young Pumpkin - Mothers Of Invention I like this song a whole lot and it's a really good example of what I'm talking about. If I can find something as out-there and energetic as this with vocals I would probably listen to it over and over for like a week. Big Big Blood - La Luz Amazing example of the simultaneously intense, but zen energy I'm looking for. Endors Toi - Tame Impala This isn't as fast paced as the others but it has enough going on in it to evoke the same sort of energy. I also really like Tame Impala but haven't heard all of their stuff. Same goes with most of these bands! Sure As Spring - La Luz I really like La Luz. Oh Yeah - Can Foreign psych rock makes me go nuts. I guess I'm just going for really chill/zen but intense and energetic stuff that has psychedelic influences, non-western influences are a definite plus. I would appreciate recommendations!

Okay this is a bit weird because I'm looking for more of a kind of sound, as well as a subject matter - I would like romantic songs that have a quick/up beat pace to it - but I'd also prefer if somehow songs that are 'romantic' but have to constantly drop sex and wanting their body were.. not included. For instance, I've enjoyed the song that has been popular lately 'Shut Up And Dance', because it has a rather quick beat and doesn't rely on crude sexual image. It makes romance and stuff sound fun and kinda whimsical, without having to go 'and man she's got a hot bod it's great i wanna gently caress her'. My problem is mostly that if I want 'clean' non-sexual romance songs, it's almost entirely slower paced older sort of bittersweetish music, and if I want upbeat fast paced romance songs, they quickly devolve into 'i want to feel you up' style stuff. Edit: I want to make it clear that as long as the pace isn't slow, I'd be into it. Pop, rock, rap, or country. I'm not worried about genre so much as speed and... lyrical content. And the lyrics are definitely on the positive side, if somewhat melodramatic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNFbaXnedZE Just uh, don't bother with Sentenced's other stuff, it's beyond mopey. That song's pretty unique in their discography. EDIT: Oh hell, I just remembered this one. It was Denmark's entry in the Eurovision song contest some years ago.
