yeah, i heard on the radio that if they ask you, you should just not answer and turn your car around. suspicious as all hell, but at least you're not lying and you can try coming back and hopefully not get asked by that guard (I don't mean, just clam up, and awkwardly trying to reverse out, but saying something bout changing your mind, can I turn around).

EvilJoven posted:I thought the liberal train of thought was that global warming is indeed real and can totally be fixed with the revenues earned from ramping up oil exports. He's Albertan (I live next to Alberta's Elephants' Graveyard) so I think he's more concerned about these West Coast hippie socialists (i.e., me) trying to block pipelines and destroy Alberta (apparently Alberta's entire future hinges on the Trans Mountain expansion). He quotes the CTF like a fundamentalist quotes scripture so I'm not sure "thought" enters into it. Speaking of which, he claims the reason Trudeau et al dropped proportional representation was that it would cost $3 billion to change our method of voting. My Google-fu has departed me; I can only find references to Trudeau and ministers raising the spectre of radical elements gaining power. Has anyone else run into this line from the CTF or other astroturfers? Also, we're at what, 4 pages of burgerchat? You lot have the munchies or what? To contribute, there is nothing better than a homemade burrito made from whole grain tortilla, mayonaisse, and homemade kimchi topped with feta and cheddar cheese. This is true even when you discover that the secret ingredient in kimchi is "salted shrimp" known to professionals as euphausids or krill. Plankton. Whale food. Swimming eyeballs. Utterly delicious.

Didn’t the Liberals just spend 4 billion on a pipeline that they can’t get approved to pump oil that now costs more to make than it will sell for?

Lobok posted:I know the first couple of Burgers Priest locations did not take any cards at all originally. The very first one in the Beaches didn't and I had to go to the ATM in a convenience store down the street to take out cash. Then the location that opened up near me still only took cash but had an ATM opposite the cashier. But now I think they all take debit/credit. Yea, that's the one nearest me, and it always pissed me off. There's a few other places like Sneaky Dee's, and the Tulip that don't take debt last time I was there. Neather split bills either. Which is surprising because I've been to multiple places that can split the cost of a single appetizer between the entire table as if it was nothing. Oxyclean posted:
That's why she left and came to my store. And think if you were 16 and it was your first job, you'd probably put up with anything because you are afraid or think that's just how things are. That is classic wage theft right there.

I don't remember really seeing them else, although I wasn't exactly seeking them out. Think big burger with chili on the patty with shredded lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, and tomato. They're messy but oh so good.

gently caress racist harassment, that poo poo sucks. A brown friend of mine I was with got yelled at on the street by some black dude for being a terrorist foreigner or some poo poo 6 month ago. Just a utter stranger. Today my mom and her friend got chased by a 40 y.o. white dude on a skateboard yelling to her that sikhs and arabs aren't welcome in canada, and that canada is an english white country that he belonged to (She's first nations). gently caress this country.

Don't do that. American border crossings are on U.S. soil, so they're entirely in their rights to toss your vehicle and detain you. If you're going to cross, do so in an airport if it's still on Canadian soil and despite any intimidation tactics they'll pull to get you "Just step over here into this private room. We can get this cleared up and have on your way." Don't follow them. That was the advice given when I asked a lawyer about crossing. As for the racist bullshit in St. Albert: this is a generally smallish town that's grown in recent years into a semi-suburb of Edmonton. It was mostly French, Catholic, and white. I'm not surprised at the letter; I was surprised at how blatant it was though. Seems that these assholes have been emboldened more and more. They're still in a minority, since there's a block party being organized to show support for the Andersen family. https://www.facebook.com/events/249732309039468/ Overall, it makes me hopeful.
