Been a rotten few days for me, and it looks to be equally or more rotten in the coming weeks. Anything you folks watch to lift your spirits at all? It can be funny, goofy, cute, something that gets you pumped up, stuff like that. Just looking for something that's not a bummer and can provide a little distraction for a couple hours maybe.

One time during a table read for Mr. Belvedere, the actor playing Mr. Belvedere sat down on his balls so hard that they had to call an ambulance and stop production of the show for a week. That story usually cheers me up. This is on topic because that show starred a WWE Hall of Famer.

I will never stop recommending this match. It's got pretty much the perfect pacing for a quick flippy match and I think I've seen it more than any other wrestling match in my life

Have you seen GLOW? You should watch that, it's super good. Otherwise, uh, idk. Been playing a lot of Zelda BOTW and Mario Kart 8 recently, and personally they've helped with my depression and anxiety, so you could try either of them.

The thing about this that always cheers me up is Jay talking about when Ric walked into the locker room for the first time, and everyone was lined up to tell them how they were huge fans and appreciated Ric so much. Then Jay gets his turn and says "oh you know it's such an honor Mr. Flair, and by the way I have a few ideas for our segment tonight..." and Flair just cuts him off, smiles, pats him on the back, and says "I'll see you out there kid." And so they improv an extremely memorable, laugh out loud segment that the crowd cheers to the whole time. e. "mirror mirror on the wall, who's the Flairest of them all"

I have an irrational affinity for Luger beating Hollywood Hogan for the title in 1997. It's just a goofy fun "lovely heel gets what is coming to him" match where the crowd is nuts and all the faces party at the end as if this dumb fake fighting is real and a good thing really happened for real. Also Hogan loses clean by submitting, no less.

For all of his many many many faults, Schiavone sold that one really well. He sounded mind blown that Luger actually won

There's nothing irrational about that. It's a better comeuppance moment than Starrcade 98 (Thanks Nick Patrick).

Luger beating Giant in '96 is also one of my favorite WCW moments. They did a great job building that one up over a few months.

It's good, the issue is that it was immediately undone and instead of it being a monumental moment for WCW against the nWo, it was a bump in the road to Sting/Hogan.

Luger beating Hogan is probably the best moment in the history of WCW.

I was never much of a Luger fan but I still remember how surprised I was to be excited by that win. It was just an oasis in a dessert to finally see Hogan lose and WCW win and very well done. And of course then immediately undone. And then my heart broke a little when Luger joined the Wolfpac.

What percentage of the roster was a member of the NWO or one of the spinoffs at the height of its ridiculousness? Like 2/3 at least?

Ziggler's got me thinking - who was the first guy to do the 'other wrestlers' gimmicks' schtick? Big Show in 2000 is the earliest I can think of.

Austin was aping Hogan in ECW around 1995 or so

In terms of aping multiple people, Stevie Richards was doing it a little bit before Big Show. I believe he started a few months before Big Show, got injured, came back when Big Show was doing the same shtick and quietly dropped the gimmick.

Yeah, like Charlie Haas, that's what I mean, like someone coming out every week as a different wrestler for what feels like loving ages. Gavok, was Stevie in WWF as early as the first few months of 2000 then? And would he have been doing it on Heat, or on the main shows?
