Oh, well then yea I'll skip them. I don't care about the captain level, I just want commendation.

I'll do the Udine thing. Thanks!

2 things worth mentioning after testing: if you want to go through the current event grind with minimal effort, you can solo afk queue for Counterpoint (you have to destroy the first two waves then you can fly far away and afk)

the new Lower Decks Lobi weapon Portable Phaser Cannon is pretty good damage wise, the phrase "TELL THEM THE PROPHETS SENT YA" is really fitting for it and unlike the Khannon doesnt have a long idle animation after firing
the T-88 Diagnostic Tool Kitframe cannot be re engineered

STO League has some recent-ish build guides for what to aim for, and if you joint he goon chat in-game and ask for a fleet invite someone ought to be there to manage it.

Not like it's possible to upgrade right now considering all the video cards are being scooped up by bitcoiners and if you're lucky enough to be around when one hasn't it costs way more than it should.

Alienware is offering the Temporal Agent Starter Pack, which unlocks the T1 Connie, the T6 Paladin Battlecruiser, 0718 Boff from the Kelvinverse, and the Ripped TOS unis. The T1 Connie in particular has some scaling weapons that come free with it, and they're less useless than the vendor-trash a new character will pick up while leveling. You can dismiss and reclaim it from the C-Store to get more weapons. The Paladin's an older T6. Nothing to write home about, but it's a passable ship.

Not really, there are better traits from event ships. If it's your first T6 though it's a perfectly serviceable ship.

Yea, it's not a bad ship, by any stretch. If it's your first T6 ship, it's perfectly workable. The temporal mechanics are fun, the boff seating is decent, and it's tanky enough to survive fitting it with vendor trash as you level. It's not an end-game or superior ship, but it's good enough.

ETA: The T1 Connie weapons are affectionately known as "screech-beams". As I said, they autoscale as you level, and they're a nice 23 century blue instead of the red-orange of "modern" phasers. But their unique sound effects are annoying as gently caress.

I have some event ships from like 2012-2015, and picked up the T6 Risian Cruiser, but missed out on basically everything in between. I did pick up that charity bundle with the Narendra and bought the Arbiter at some point, so I have a couple of useful traits. I just find it hard to tell which of the other random traits I have are worth using when they never really appear in any meta builds.

Eimi

If you're using FAW there are two other c-store traits that should fill up the 4 default you have and basically won't let you down. You already have Emergency Weapon Cycle and History Will Remember, add in Entwined Tactical Matrix from the Gagarin, which gives you FAW when you hit torp spread, and torp spread when you hit FAW, and then Calm Before the Storm from the Cardassian Intel Flight Deck Carrier which gives you a massive haste buff every 20s and you should be set until you start getting the good stuff. Toss in Improved Critical Systems from the Temporal Agent and you have 5 solid account wide traits.

Yeah the TOS weapon sound effects weren't bad, but they were designed to be played maybe... once or twice an episode. Not seven times simultaneously over and over through a fifteen minute task force.

Shame the secondary fire is useless with autofire toggles much like every other weapon with a charge/fuel type mechanic, but who cares the primary hits like a truck. Not sure if it actually out damages the ludicrously unbalanced Discovery rifle but it's pretty close even if it doesn't and it looks way better, including lighting up if you do charge it. It's basically a rapid fire Boolean cannon, definitely nab it if you have the 40 spare lobi.

unlike others the secondary is worth it fully charged up, if you think the primary already hits hard wait for it
needless to say that because of the charge up time you shouldnt waste it on cannon fodder that your boffs kill in seconds, it also has problems with the z-axis (attacking targets above or below you)

But it does loop back around for 40 times simultaneously from 5 cruisers in a TFO. 50, if you're lucky enough to have 5 Flight Deck Carriers loaded up with Class F shuttles, unlocked by the Atlas.

Confirming what other goons said, the Paladin is a fine, generic t6 cruiser after doing some kazon krushers with it. Nothing amazing, and the trait is bad, but if you want a t6 cruiser and either have an alienware account or want to make a throwaway email to sign up, it's a serviceable choice.

Alienware does give out ships like this fairly regularly. This is the second or third ship I've gotten from these giveaways.

Note that if you’re a new player any T6 is going to be superior to any T5.

My first T6 was some promo giveaway galaxy- alike that was objectively terrible but it was still better than driving a T5

Edit: caveat that if you’re some end game player with gold weaps etc you could PROBABLY build some meta as gently caress T5 cannon escort that outperforms a lovely T6 that’s only set up right for a beam meta or whatever.

Still t6> T5, especially for a newbie.

It's the Portable Phaser Cannon Special Issue, from the Lower Decks content drop. It's in the Lobi Consortium Store. Currently 40 lobi (because of the sale), normally 50 lobi.

Golding it feels about the same as the Advanced Herald Antiproton Beam Projector, which is the long-time lobi favorite. The Phaser Cannon is probably a little stronger on single-target damage, but the Herald Staff will chain. With the trait & equipment stack I have now it doesn't feel like many things survive more than 1-2 shots from the staff anyway

ETA: Like almost everything else in the lobi store, they're bind-on-pickup, so not available on the exchange. You've got to open some gamble-boxes to get the lobi necessary. Quick guesstimate is 20-25 boxes. At current key prices, that's probably 200-250m EC for both.
