I have no idea what the hell I just read, but it's a good reminder that Mega Man people are weird.

In other news, some game called Monster Combine TD is coming to the EU eShop on Jan 15.

From Collavier Corporation, best known for, uh, nothing much really. 4€ / £3.20

As much as I love Battle Network 2, I still don't see the reason of selling games made for portable systems on a non-portable systems; it seems counter-intuitive, especially at the overwhelming price of $8/game. Even then, players will be missing out on probably the greatest aspect of those games altogether: multiplayer. I cannot tell you how much fun I had playing against my friends in Battle Network 3 when I was younger.

Because they are fun, well made games, and the fact that you can't leave the house with them doesn't change that.

Sega should be posting the first of the second set of 3D Classics developer interviews soon, so I won't bother going over what's included in 3D Afterburner, but it's a cool game and an excellent port and you need to buy it and all the others so they keep making more.

As far as I know, Axelay was originally released for the Wii VC in the US and AU/NZ but skipped Europe for some reason, so it's cool to see you're finally getting it now. Demon's Crest, also cool and good.

Tekken Tag 2 is a good port, Adventure Time IDK sucks on every platform, One Piece Unlimited was the good one I think? Noone in the world has ever played those Pacman games.

EDIT: warning, Tekken's like 17GB or something.

It's insanity -- but I guess people must be buying it to make it worth selling for that price?!

Is there a way to have Nintendo (or someone else, I suppose) e-mail you every time a new game goes on sale, either on the Wii U eShop or 3DS? I do that already with GOG and some other sites, and I check my e-mail every morning as a matter of routine - it would be nice to be able to know regularly what's on offer.

Also, as a response to a post I saw from last month, I bought Chronicles of Mystara on Steam about 2 seconds after Capcom brought it back out and I snapped up the Wii U version when it was on special around Christmas. I'm really sad that nobody is playing apparently any version, because that game is very replayable and incredibly fun with a few people. There was a thread and a bit of goon activity right after the PC version came out and we had a grand time, so if anyone is up for it (Wii U or PC), I am too. I'm great to play with because I know most of the secrets and I usually play :catholic:, so I hand out all of the buffs and heals... if I like you. :smug:

Persona Q is the first RPG I've really played since Chrono Trigger, and I was surprised by how much I liked it. Out of that list, I'd definitely say Etrian Odyssey 4. Especially since you liked Persona Q. EO4 focuses less on story and characters in favor of customization, but if story and characters is what you liked about PQ then maybe play persona 3 and 4 try Etrian Odyssey Untold. It's not as good overall as EO4, but it has both classic EO mode and a story mode with set characters and a plot and all that. There's also really good demos for both games on the eShop that let you transfer your progress to the full game, you should probably check those out.

If you're looking for something completely different though, check out Devil Survivor Overclocked it's also really good. Fun hybrid of strategy RPG/traditional JRPG.

If you're looking for modern RPGs you should probably skip Devil Summoner because its a straight up port of a Sega Saturn game. Its not bad, it just feels really old.

After playing Persona Q, SMT4 and EO will both be really familiar to you. SMT4 has the demon collection and fusion stuff and all the spell names will be the same, where EO is all about party composition and mapping dungeons. EO4 is a better game if you don't mind making your own blank slate characters or EOU if you want premade characters and a more traditional JRPG story. Devil Survivor is good too but its more of a strategy RPG with SMT battle mechanics.

Also you should find a way to play Persona 4 somehow.

Because I'm a bad person who didn't see a number after the title and assumed it would function well enough as a standalone title/story. I was very wrong on that part. But still really enjoyed it once I accepted the backstory wouldn't make sense to me!

Thanks for answering so fast, everyone. I'm going to download both EO demos when I get home to try them out. I think I'll likely buy EO4 and then work my way over to SMT4. From what's been described they sound like they'll scratch that same itch PQ did while pushing out my RPG interests further.

Also just ordered Persona 4 for PS3 to atone for my ignorance. Thanks!

I played more of EO Untold than IV. The story and voiced characters helped me along through the game. That being said I have yet to finish an EO game or PQ because I got bored of the mapping at some point.

Devil Survivor is an SRPG and probably better for people who played and liked Fire Emblem. There's a lot of endings so it's replayable too.

SMTIV is a modern RPG with enemies represented on the map. Soul Hackers is a 90s RPG that does show its age at points. Encounters are random like in EO.

Conception II is worth no more than :10bux:. It's a Visual Novel with a tacked on generic chosen one story and bland RPG dungeon. The Vita version has better graphical quality anyways.

From what I've heard, Persona Q is pretty weak as an Etrian Odyssey game. I'd recommend EO4 or EOU. EOU is more accessible, EO4 has better level design and cooler skillsets.

You all convinced me to buy EO4 and SMT4 together. I know Atlus games go on sale all the time but it's nice knowing that once I finish EO4 I've got another great game waiting for me. After playing Persona Q I can see how mapping the dungeons could get boring/tedious for some, but for me it satisfied an aspect of my completionist tendency, knowing that I definitely didn't miss any corridors. Also was really happy the first time I died and it told me I could save the map I'd already drawn out to that point.

Thanks again, everyone. I'm on a path now.
