I'm glad Brooke is tackling this plot line. Just when I thought Reddick would edge him out for most masturbatory strip, he comes along and reminds me why he will always be my personal 'worst in thread'. The Gwen plot was cringey, but it's nothing compared to how offensively terrible "gay men just need to find the right woman" is.

It would be (I read it as a stereotyped southern gentleman accent), but the general joke is that Everett is taking his hat off because he thinks the way the man is speaking is effeminate.

Well, Two things:

One: There is such a thing as " Flow of Traffic" If everyone else is going 70, YOU need to be going 65 or 70, even if the limit is 55, or else you become a danger.
If the speed limit is 55, but in doing so he is creating a dangerous traffic jam, then yes, he can certainly be ticketed.

Two: How the gently caress is he blocking 4 lanes of traffic? Look at the picture. There is 4 rows of cars behind.
If he is somehow keeping FOUR LANES blocked, then yes. Ticket, and tow.

You can't be ticketed for driving at the speed limit and it is not legal to exceed the speed limit just because others are doing so. If you're just driving at the limit and that's annoying other people who would like to break the law but can't, that is not something the police consider to be a problem.

If he's swerving back and forth across the road to prevent anyone from passing that's an entirely separate issue to just driving at the speed limit.

One: I hate those people & consider them road hazards as much as you do, trust me. That said, most cops aren't going to hand out tickets for that, at least not around here. They're too busy getting easy speeding ticket revenue since everyone is going 75+ in a 65. (Thanks, arbitrarily low tollway speed limits)

Two: Just don't think about it too hard. :v:

Phoebe's parents are the best comic strip parents. I especially like how it's “do you think I should“ rather than “can I“. Mutual respect and a genuine question instead of standard shorthand for “those drat entitled kids and their phones“.

In the left lane you absolutely can be ticketed for doing the speed limit

Here's the california law about it:

quote:

21654. (a) Notwithstanding the prima facie speed limits, any vehicle proceeding upon a highway at a speed less than the normal speed of traffic moving in the same direction at such time shall be driven in the right-hand lane for traffic or as close as practicable to the right-hand edge or curb, except when overtaking and passing another vehicle proceeding in the same direction or when preparing for a left turn at an intersection or into a private road or driveway.
