Man, that Lawrence of Arabia box set looks intense! Hopefully the price drops, at least, a little bit before Christmas. $65 on amazon right now, but thats still a little rich for my blood (though I might cave). Does the set include an itunes digital copy, or is it only ultra violet?

I should probably try to see it before dropping that much on it though huh?

I decided against the limited edition box because I'm not that type of collector, but really glad I bought the movie, especially because of the restoration of it, although the actual film is a wonder as well. Not that the argument was ever anything other than obscenely stupid to begin with, but when you watch something like Lawrence of Arabia, it pummels the statement "Do older movies really benefit that much from Bluray?" into pulp because it looks like something filmed yesterday. It's a reference disc if there ever was one.

One of the TNG Remaster guys seem to suggest that Fox was doing something similar with 24. Though it's lite on FX compared to X-Files I would think.

The X-Files had very few digital effects shots for a show of it's nature; the vast majority was practical. If this HD release does happen (I'm not holding my breath) we shouldn't worry about it getting the Firefly treatment. There is the occasional digital shot but they're few and far between. The dreadful composite work on FPS not withstanding.

Not really sure where to ask this and I hate making new threads, especially for something as dumb as this, so I suppose this is as good a place as any--I'm looking to sell a bunch of DVDs and Blu-Rays in bulk since I don't feel like going through the hassle of dealing with listing, watching, and shipping poo poo through eBay (or even SA Mart) and was wondering if any of you have done this before and know of a reputable site to use. Or if you know of a better way to get rid of a bunch of DVDs/Blu-Rays with as little effort as possible. Google pulls up a few, but I wanted some feedback first. Some of the results... http://www.selldvdsonline.com/ http://www.secondspin.com/ http://www.zumu.co/ etc. e: you know what, if someone can help, cool, but this is silly and maybe probably shouldn't be here but w/e i'll leave it here for all to giggle at Gio fucked around with this message at 03:53 on Nov 21, 2012 |

I've had luck with Amazon. You just create the listings, and then box them up in bulk and ship them off to Amazon where they'll ship them for you as they are sold. Pros: Its very easy for the lazy who don't want to ship things out yourself as they sell Cons: Amazon does charge a fee per sale, and it can be a little difficult to figure out if you can sell them competitively even with the Amazon fees. I didn't mind that once, and ended up inadvertently selling a lot of things at a loss.

I love Secondspin, they've been around for a while and they have a few brick and mortar stores, one of which is local to me. If you want the most money, you can make one trip and they will go through your movies and tell you what they are buying the whole batch for. You get good prices, about 1/3 of what they'll sell them for used, and 25% more if you take the payment in store credit. I've basically shopped with them both in the store and online since I moved to Denver in '99.

For instance, if anyone wants a copy of La Haine, shoot me a PM and we can work something out.
